About

THE DAN BAND IN CONCERT:

The Dan Band has carved a unique niche for itself at the intersection of music and comedy, combining equal parts humor and chops to achieve their pitch-perfect pop culture send-ups. Known for their histrionic, tongue-in-cheek covers of traditionally female-fronted power anthems, comedian Dan Finnerty and his hilarious backup duo have become a comedy circuit favorite and late-night talk show staple. The Dan Band is a live act first and foremost — their 2005 debut album was a live album — and there's no better way to experience them than on their 2014 tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The brainchild of actor and comedian Dan Finnerty, the Dan Band got their start in LA's comedy club scene, where they were hailed as the "hottest ticket in town" by Entertainment Weekly. After making several high-profile cameos in comedy blockbusters like The Wedding Planner (2001) and Old School (2003), the band released their 2005 debut album The Dan Band Live. The album was a hit, featuring parodies of pop culture subjects including Shakira ("Whenever Wherever/Hips Don't Lie") and bubblegum pop ("Genie In a Bottle/No Scrubs/Slave 4 U") and setting the tone for their future live shows. As the band hits the road for another gut-busting tour in 2014, no topic is off-limits, and fans wouldn't have it any other way.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"The Dan Band was one of the most entertaining and hilariously funny shows I've ever been to. What a blast! The best in comical acts!!!"

"The Dan Band exceeded expectations. The song performances and song selections were perfect. The group truly seemed to enjoy performing for us! I especially enjoyed when Dan interacted with the crowd, he was funny without being an a**hole."

"That was some funny stuff. The Dan Band was so funny and he can really sing. The performance was outstanding."

Finally got to see The Dan Band Live!

by KikiVancouver on 2009-07-22Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

I've enjoyed their music, seen their show on tv, and finally signed up for their emails just in case they made it as far north as Vancouver...and they finally did! They are hilarious and super talented. My husband and I learned, though, that Vancouverites just don't dance much! This is the second concert where there weren't many people dancing...and it was in no way a reflection of The Dan Band. Must just be Vancouver! Wish I lived in SoCal so I could see them more often.

Why did I think this would be good?

by munro on 2009-07-19Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

Terrible...glorified karaoke. I hope The Dan Band is enjoying its 15 minutes; a quick descent back into obscurity is imminent.

    Surprisingly entertaining

by rkzm on 2009-07-18Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

I mainly saw this band because I thought they were funny in movies like Old School and The Hangover. At first i thought a band doing covers of songs originally done by female artists using profanity would get old and tedious by the 3rd song, but i was surprised how funny and entertaining the show was. The entire performance was energetic with memorable dance numbers. I couldn't believe 3 middle-aged men, who don't seem athletic at all, could endure of such rigorous activity, let alone be coordinated enough for the choreography.

My boyfriend and I had such a great time. The Dan band put on such a great show and entertained everyone so well. All of their songs are so well done and some of the songs that they perform are amazing!!! They can keep up with Beyonce!!!

The Dan Band killed the Commodore Ballroom!

    by Fikface98 on 2009-07-17Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

I have to admit that going in to this event my expectations could not have been higher for the band that had appeared in such hits as Old School, Starsky and Hutch, and The Hangover. To say I was pleased would be a vast understatement. Unforgettable dance moves, combined with irresistable spins on classic songs gave my friends and me a night we would not soon forget.

by LAME on 2009-07-17Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

I was not happy at all with the whole production of this event...Was extreamly excited for this show to come then when it did i made it through 3 tracks and left...Had to wait 2 hours after getting inside for anyone to come on stage. When the dan band finnaly got on stage they sounded terrible and were singing to tracks... I left and went to a pub and had a great time for twenty bucks I got a 3 dollar value....

    Dan Band

    by kay123 on 2009-07-17Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

The Dan Band was awesome! They sang oldschool ballads with their new school twist. They absolutely nailed Beyonce's "single ladies" and blew the roof off with "Total Eclipse of the Heart". Can't wait until they come back!

Outstanding. Most of their songs are on youtube, but the crowd interaction really makes it great. Amazing show.

The Dan Band needs a band (and a good soundman)

by WandaSpearhead on 2009-07-16Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

Big Disappointment. First of all, there was no band to back up Dan and his two cohorts, which made them unsubstantial in the big Commodore Ballroom. Worse than that though, the sound was horrible and you could not make out any of the lyrics, which is the premise of the whole group; cheesy girl lyrics that have been sprinkled with obsenities and are delivered in a tongue-in-cheek, hilarious way by a male comedian. And if you can't hear the lyrics and the music is canned, you might as well be at a Karaoke Bar listening to a bunch of drunken frat boys for a fraction of the cost. Three thumbs down.
