About

DARCYS IN CONCERT:

Darcys started out nearly a decade ago as art rock quartet The Darcys. Now a duo, the group has dropped the article, switched their focus to dance-pop, and debuted their new style on the 2016 single "Miracle." Their live performances are as colorful and energetic as their new discotheque-ready sound, and frontman Jason Couse oozes charisma as he sings and struts under the neon stage lights in his characteristically flamboyant attire. Longtime fans will be glad the group hasn't gotten rid of their quirky edges –  left-field flourishes like angular guitar riffs and warbling synthesizers still feature prominently atop their bumping rhythms. Ticket buyers: get ready to cut loose when Darcys show off their funkified new style at dance parties across North America.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Darcys have been bringing an intellectual edge to the Toronto music scene for the past decade. Vocalist/guitarist Jason Couse and drummer Wes Marskell began in an art rock vein in 2007 with their debut album Endless Water. The group soldiered through several setbacks – including a car accident, a mugging, and an equipment theft – before releasing their self-titled 2011 sophomore album. They returned a couple years later with their third album Warring, which was nominated for a Juno (the Canadian equivalent of the Grammys) and the Polaris Prize (an annual award given to the best Canadian album based on artistic merit). The publicity helped The Darcys grow into a full-time touring act, but soon the band began to fracture. Pared down to the founding duo of Couse and Marskell, they changed their name to Darcys in 2016 and went in a completely different direction with the funky pop single "Miracle." With the emphasis on dance beats, smooth vocals, and high-energy performances, the band entered an exciting new phase of their career that has fans eager to catch up with them at their upcoming shows.

The Darcy's were incredible as always

The Darcy's, to me, are an epic band. Whenever I see them here in Calgary, I always feel like I'm getting a stadium show, with their incredible, energy, performance and sound, in a tiny intimate space. I never miss an opportunity to see them when they're here.
