    Loved the Blind Boys

by justvisiting on 2009-11-30Perth And District Collegiate Auditorium - Perth

These guys are really wonderful! They ramp up the gospel sound and even make Christmas carols worth hearing. The Perth audience was largely older people, and as a typical Canadian one it was rather subdued, at least at the beginning. There were no people standing and moving and swaying and grooving until towards the end, but hey ... the BB of A eventually got even that audience on its feet.

    The Blind Boys of Alabama

by newfiegirl on 2009-07-31Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

They are a very talented and gifted group of singers. They sing gospel so if you're into that type of music, you will thoroughly enjoy listening to them as I did. One interesting thing they did was they started playing the song "The House of the Rising Sun" but when they started singing, they sang "Amazing Grace" to the music. It was a very enjoyable evening.

Ruthie Foster should have been the headliner

by kimbones on 2009-07-26Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Ruthie Foster performed prior to the Blind Boys. We would have rated the event 5 stars had she been the main attraction since her performance was unbelievably soulful and at the same time energetic. The Blind Boys are to be admired for many reasons such as their long running success. However, we would not attend a future event of theirs.

    Blind Boys got soul

by Gospel1fan on 2009-07-24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Excellent concert - Have not heard Ruthie Foster before and was blown away. She did a variety of music from folk to blues to gospel and has the voice of an angel - could have listened to her all night. The Blind Boys were came on and we were not dissappointed - they are very entertaining and have amazing voices. My only concern was that their sound system was not very good for the first half of the concert - their voices were muffled and drown out by the band - when Ruthie Foster sang with them, you couldn't hear her voice at all. Too bad because with the sound improved, the concert would have been perfect.

Ruthie was amazing. Blind boys were 'meh'.

by RuthieFan on 2009-07-23Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Love Ruthie Foster and she was great as always. The Blind Boys did their thing and were impressive (given their age), but I could have left after Ruthie and not felt I missed much.

Terrific performances in a great venue

by FanParent on 2009-07-22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I went to this show primarily to see Ruthie Foster but I have to tell you I came away a big fan of the Blind Boys of Alabama too. The concert, at the Jubilee Auditorium, offered great acoustics and, compared to the Saddledome, was a much more suitably-intimate venue. Ruthie Foster is amazing, and her set was over far too early. Then the Blind Boys took the stage. Their show was a little slow at the start, and I feared their part of the bill would be a letdown after Ruthie. That fear quickly died as these talented singers and musician slowly built up a tremendous head of steam to the point where they were lifting the roof off the joint. We got an extra treat when Ruthie came out to join them on one song. By the end of the show everyone was on their feet.

    Sorta impressed

by sammyboy on 2009-07-21Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I went to the above concert and had mixed feelings. Blind Boys from Alabama were not very good. However, Ruthie Foster was amazing. I would definately recommend others to see her. Her vocal range was quite impressive.

    Ruthie Foster is fabulous

by shorty55 on 2009-07-20Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

We enjoyed the concert very much but we found the sound level of the music was a little to high when the Blind Boys were performing. We had difficulty hearing the songs that they were singing. Disappointed that Ruthie Foster did not perform more. We would definetly go to another of their concerts.

    Blind Boys were awesome!!

by SylviaB on 2009-07-20The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

We had excellent seats and were inspired by their performance. It was too short and we had a pre-performance which was not as inspiring.
