JAMC know how to please their fans

by Gemada on 2017-11-01Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Unlike Depeche Mode 2 nights earlier, JAMC mixed their new and old stuff together seamlessly, delivering a full on aural spectacle that left no one wanting. Excellent show!

The 'Special Guests" were excellent and on point, making me reminiscent of being 15 years old.

The Jesus and Mary Chain are still rocking!

by Nurls on 2017-05-15Massey Hall - Toronto

I am thrilled to have been able to see this band. I wouldn't have known all the years that lapsed between their albums, they brought me right back to the 90's. I would have suggested turning up the vocals at times though. And I didn't find it easy sitting through this performance but once I moved to the back where I stood, I enjoyed it even more. They're not a band to watch seated, that's for sure!

    The boys done good

by Youngster on 2017-05-15Massey Hall - Toronto

This was my first time seeing the Jesus and Mary Chain, and I have to admit I wasn't too sure what to expect. It could just be some shoe gazing with guitars in the back ground. Thankfully it was nothing like that. The boys rocked from the very first twang of their guitars to the very last buzz of the feedback as they left the stage after their second encore. They were on point with all their song choices and the crowd responded brilliantly. One of the best crowds I have witnessed at a gig in Toronto.

Tour for the 30th Anniversary of Psychocandy

by DjinnDjinn on 2015-05-20The Vogue - Vancouver, BC

I went to see JAMC in Chicago back in the late 80s, so this 2nd opportunity was a long time in coming. The warm up band, the Black Ryder, had a lush, shoe-gazing, gothic, dream pop sound that complemented the featured event well, but they were plagued by poor sound out of the vocals. Good band though. JAMC, in the middle of a long tour, was all business. There was minimal chat with the audience--just a few words about what was going to be performed--a few greatest hits followed by the entirety of the Psychocandy album. Several industrial-sized fog machines were cranked to 11, and the band, what could be seen of them, was off. It was a nice show, competently performed. Jim Reid was in very good vocal form. Once the set was completed, the band, perhaps overcome by prolonged fog exposure, was not to linger for an encore. It was great to see the legendary band. The only real criticism was that, as much as I liked Psychocandy, I would have loved to hear more songs from other albums as well.

    Was OK

by JAMCFAN on 2012-08-07Phoenix - Toronto

Sound was pretty good. Band was a bit disorganized, sometimes seemed like they were in rehearsal rather than a live show. Stuff like that went over fine back in the 80's when they were young and angry (like us all), but at 60 bux a ticket this time around--completely NOT worth it. (Plus the Phoenix should revisit their occupancy limits--the venue was so overcrowded and stinking hot!!!!!

    JAMC rocked!

by 50FtQueenie on 2012-08-05The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

The band started off slowly - it took them a good 3-4 songs to loosen up. But when they did, that fuzzy guitar sound just built and built, and then the walls of feedback started and it was all glorious.
