Show brought good memories of the Pointer Sister's talent. Happy to see that Ruth has been able to keep the talent in the family through her daughter and grand-daughter. Would have been more enjoyable if the show was longer.
The Pointer Sisters has become more or less, a musical entertainment concept. Ruth is the only original group member -- she appears with her daughter Issa and her granddaughter, Sadako. They sing to recorded music (i.e. there is no band), so the dynamics of instrument players and singers working together to create a sound is missing. The show is just over an hour long. It has an almost cabaret-style feel to it. I enjoyed it and I am glad I went, but it was nothing like the Pointer Sisters I saw in Hawaii in the 1980s. It felt like a celebration of something that was great, but can never be captured again.
I was very disappointed with the Pointer Sisters show. First of all, I am a fan, but the music track (not a live band) was so loud that you could not hear the song melody or the words they were singing. It was crazy. You could see on the big screen that they were singing, but that's about it.Very disappointing. By the end of the show the sound issues had improved enough so that you could at least tell what song they were singing. We actually left a little early as we had had enough. I also think that you should advertise that it is not the Pointer Sisters but only one original Pointer Sister, her daughter and grand daughter. Very disappointed as it was our anniversary and a treat for us to go out and see a concert in Edmonton. Not at all what I rightfully expected. If I'd have known it would be as bad as it was, we would have done something else for our anniversary...
The songs were great & brought back lots of memories. We all wished the sound was a little bit better considering it was at the Grey Eagle and we also wished it had lasted a little longer, but it was still a nice evening!
WOW! These women know what the audience is coming for! Every song was a hit & we danced the entire time. Their vocals were spot on, leaving the audience wanting more. I would certainly pay to see the Pointer Sisters again.
Not the same pointer sisters for sure. Little effort in backdrop, costumes and not even a band.
The show was slow to start and the sound was off for one song however it was an overall great show. Once they got the love of the crowd they themselves got into it too.
Almost everyone was up dancing to the "beat", gave you shivers up your spine it was so great.
Extremely disappointing, no band, no atmosphere. Singing to backing tracks, the sound quality was terrible, just bass banging and banging, drowning the vocals.
First off at the start the sound was so bad you could not hear them singing . They played 10 songs in 75 minutes and were done. No encore.
