Incredible performers as always! Wonderful lighting direction
This was the show I was waiting for half my life! JOSEPH was the perfect opening act, and WOW- could those girls sing! Unfortunately, the Pit tickets that I purchased were not honoured. No pit, and no communication about that prior to the event. We were to grab seats, and then stay there the duration. I would have gotten there MUCH earlier if I’d known, and I also wouldn’t have paid for pit tickets. I will be seeking partial reimbursement.
The speakers amps and/or other related sound gear may have contributed to what I experienced as an overall "tinny sound". Not a good sound for any band.
Seated center, seven rows back, the opening act was good but what followed was not. For the Shins, the vocals were only audible from the far corner speakers and struggled to pierce through the volume of the drums. The rest of the band was rarely audible. Persevered through about half a dozen songs and then followed the que of the people next to us who had also decided to leave. On our departure, we mentioned the sound quality in passing to the venue staff who clearly couldn’t have cared less.
Great lighting, good sound. The Shins forever. Thanks
The shins never fail to disappoint.. This was about my 27th or 28th time seeing them and and it's beautiful and fresh and amazing every time.... I danced all night! Not sure about the rest of the dead beat crowd at Vancouver though unfortunately. Anyway, great venue, Great sound, great band with a great leader and a storyteller and a lyrical wizard.... Mr. James Mercer...
If this was an animatronic experience at Disney land, James Mercer would have been more life-like. I would say, “what should I expect from someone who should be retired”, but it would be rude to compare the movements of a retiree to this lurching corpse of a man.
The Shins were great, and I love that they had their cute opening band, Joseph, play with them in their set. I enjoyed the venue, Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver, but the sound was a little off / could have been a sound person’s fault? All in all, worth going out on a “school night”!
I bought good L orchestra seats because this, like so many concerts i attend are bucket list concerts but it is unfair to let people crowd the stage when some of us paid more to have that vantage point. QE always does this and it is an even bigger shame that it has continued after covid.
