About

THE SOUNDS IN CONCERT:

Swedish new wave revivalists The Sounds blend anthemic guitar hooks and period-perfect synth lines to stunning effect, injecting their modern indie dance rock with just the right amount of '80s nostalgia. Frontwoman Maja Ivarsson may look like she's ready for the runway, but come showtime she means business, leading fans through pogo-inducing renditions of the band's most adrenalin-filled tracks. Hot off the heels of the late-2013 release of Weekend, The Sounds have fans eagerly awaiting their 2014 North American tour dates with Blondfire.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Sweden in 1998, The Sound made their full-length debut in 2002 with Living in America, becoming an overnight sensation in their home country and landing on the radar of critics in the US and UK. 2006 saw follow-up album Dying to Say This to You as well as main stage performances at the Vans Warped Tour, where the band dazzled fans and critics with their electrifying live sets. Celebrating ten years of recording and touring with the 2013 release of Weekend, the band once again hit the road for a headlining European tour before heading to North America in 2014.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Awesome, fun, entertaining show! Maja is quite the showwoman and we had a great time! I would definitely go see them again!"

"The show was terrific! They played all their hits and the energy was incredible. It was great to see so many Sounds fans under one roof!"

"Wow, she can really rock some socks! I felt like I was watching Blondie! She brought it back to the old school type of rock, cigarettes and little shorts... They were very entertaining live."

    The Sounds / Foxy Shazam

by AvidShowGoer on 2009-11-02Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

The Sounds were superb. I'm only really familiar with one of their albums, about which half or so was played. The music I was unfamiliar with was still enjoyable. I felt like a lot of the songs had different intros when compared to the studio versions I was familiar with. For me, it added some freshness without completely changing what I liked about their music.

This show was fantastic. Foxy Shazam opened and they had great stage presence and showmanship, and the Sounds played a wicked set list and kept the crowd going from beginning to end. One of the highest energy shows I've ever seen.

Really great show. Her voice was amazing. The chat in between was okay. She dropped a lot of F bombs which just seemed unnecessary. But other than that they were great. she crowd surfed and it was great energy.

    Awesome opener- awesome show!

    by Philly87 on 2009-10-27Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

Very personable, great music, crowd surfing.. I did not like the fact that everyone was smoking POT and cigarettes, I stunk like marijuana when I got home. The drunk 19 year old losers were annoying and spill beer all over my back but other than the people. THE CONCERT was soo good that I didnt care. The lead singer crowd surfed and she squeezed my hand. it was just the best. They were great live, loved the fans, Just go see these guys. PS... beer on tap was like 9 bucks a class. Id recommend buy bottles.
