The Strawbs formed in 1964 as the Strawberry Hill Boys and spent their early years playing bluegrass music. In the late '60s they moved towards a folkier sound and changed their name to The Strawbs, and in 1968 they released their debut single "Oh How She Changed" on Herb Alpert's A&M Records. Their first full-length album Strawbs arrived the following year, establishing them as a potent new voice in folk rock and paving the way for a string of classic '70s albums. Their 1972 album Grave New World is widely regarded as a stylistic high point for the band, and their 1973 album Bursting at the Seams reached No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart thanks to the hugely popular single "Part of the Union". The band endured numerous lineup changes throughout the late '70s, but frontman and primary songwriter Dave Cousins remained a constant. After a relatively quiet '80s and '90s, the band ramped up again in the '00s, thrilling fans with five full-length albums and extensive touring. With more than 20 records and five decades of experience under their belt, The Strawbs continue to impress ticket buyers with career-spanning sets on their unforgettable concert tours.
