About

THE WIND + THE WAVE IN CONCERT:

Austin duo The Wind + The Wave are fast on the rise thanks to a captivating blend of alt-country, indie folk, and blues rock that's elevated by their undeniable on-stage chemistry. Singer-songwriter Patty Lynn Drew and guitarist/producer Dwight Baker were born to play together – the interplay of their incredible voices and  impressive fingerpicking is as natural and fluid as if they shared a brain, and the result is never short of awe-inspiring. In concert the pair lets their considerable talent speak for itself, delivering raw and powerful performances that eschew stage gimmicks in favor of gold old-fashioned musicianship. Finely crafted songs like "With Your Two Hands" and "It's a Longer Road to California Than I Thought" showcase Drew's world-wise vocals and Baker's evocative guitar work, and their soulful sets conjure up the arid and romantic landscapes of the American West. With their highly anticipated sophomore album generating big buzz in 2016, The Wind + The Wave has fans chomping at the bit to catch the new tunes on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The Wind + The Wave formed in Austin in the early '10s when singer-songwriter Patty Lynn and producer Dwight Baker linked up and started writing songs together. They played their first show in 2013 opening for Austin local legend Bob Schneider, and later that year they signed to RCA Records. Their beautiful, haunting debut album, 2014's From the Wreckage, was a hit with critics, drawing the pair out for a tour that proved their live chops matched their studio prowess. Since then they've impressed at festivals like SXSW, signed to Island Records, and wowed fans with "Grand Canyon," the hard-charging lead single from their 2016 sophomore album Happiness Is Not a Place.
