The Yardbirds Tickets

I am so glad I saw this show. The music was great. Extremely talented musicians. Very tight band.

There are 2 main reasons that I can only rate the Yardbirds a 3 star. First, their choice of venue. This Casino is not of the usual casino quality, as well the acoustics in the theatre are terrible and the lower seating was tables and chairs, not the tiered seating as in other casinos. It was general seating, so once there, you lined up to reserve your seat. Then lined up again at show time to get in. Secondly, why did they allow that opening act (which was a last minute surprise)? That band was awful, extremely loud and had the audacity to play 8 songs. People called from the balcony asking them to turn down their guitars (which they did not). After reserving our seats, the casino folks told us to return to the theatre for 7:30 - the Yardbirds show was to start at 8 PM. Well, by the time the Yardbirds came on stage after that opening act at almost 9 PM we were "done". We were tired and cranky, and our ears hurt from listening to that loud awful band (and everyone around me said the same). We just wanted out of there. The show finished around 10:20 and at that point we had been sitting there for 3 hours!!!! Too long!!! One of the original Yardbird band members was unable to be there due to a medical condition, so it was 3 young fellows and the original drummer. They were energetic and good musicians and played some good blues songs, plus a few of their hits, but it felt like a tribute band somehow. We will never attend this venue again.
