His quick rise to stardom is thanks in no small part to his rollicking live concerts, where his warm personality and energetic showmanship always get ticket buyers feeling good. BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Ontario-born Tim Hicks began taking music lessons at age six and formed his first band the following year. He struggled throughout his 20s to get a record contract, and in 2012 he got a big break when he was invited to open for Dallas Smith and Chad Brownlee on their Boys of Fall tour. A deal with Open Road Recordings followed soon after, and in 2013 Hicks released his debut album Throw Down. The record was a success, peaking at No. 16 on the Canadian Albums Chart and establishing him as one of the country's most dynamic young songwriting talents with Top 10 hits like "Get By" and "Hell Raisin' Good Time". 2014 proved another big year for the singer as he hit the road with Dierks Bentley for the Riser Tour and released his sophomore album 5:01. The album peaked at No. 7 in Canada, spawning another string of successful singles and generating major excitement among fans for his continued touring.
I've wanted to see Tim for ages and finally got to see him @ Algonquin Commons Theater last Friday. As expected, he sounded amazing and engaged the crowd throughout the show. Felt a little odd being at a concert where the majority of people stayed seated all night, but to each their own. I stood and danced the show away and can't wait to see him again!

Tim Hicks was a party! He sounded great, we had so much fun to singing along and it was just the best vibe. Made for an awesome night out. ALSO Robyn Ottolini is AMAZING. I’d only heard one or two of her songs but she ended up being the stand out of the show for me (sorry, Tim!). Even though I didn’t know many of her songs she’s such a talented singer that I could understand every word she was signing. That meant I really got to fully enjoy a new artist live (which is so rare). Her lyrics went right to my heart and she’s now my new fav. I’ve been listening to her on repeat on my Spotify since the concert! Don’t sleep on Robyn she’s the real deal.
Tim hicks always puts on a great show. Lots of energy and crowd involvement. And fantastic sound. What a great show!
It was a little loud but the entertainment was awesome I loved the music.
I was extremely excited, and looking forward to this concert. This would be my second time seeing Tim Hicks in concert. I found the concert was entertaining, very smooth, however I found the sound quality not so good. I was seated near the front of the stage, and could not make out all the words especially when talking. I moved to the back of the room, and found the quality not good back there as well. I wish they would have turned the volume down just a notch, whereby the music would be more crisp. Tim and his band do a great job of entertaining with lots of energy, but the sound quality was not good.
Sad that the venue wasnt a sold out concert, as Tim Hicks is a great artist and love all his songs. Unfortunately the instrumental part of the songs was waaaaaay too loud and over powered the great vocals. Could not even hear him speaking as the speaker's and overall loudness was just ear piecing too loud.
They said the show was about to get loud and they did not disappoint!! Tim is a great entertainer & we throughly enjoyed it!! Staff was very friendly!!
Tim Hicks was amazing.. so much energy and I sang along to every song. Such a good show I’ll certainly watch for his next event.
Tim Hicks was fabulous and we loved the venue! The Commodore is fantastic for concerts! And he put on an amazing show there!
