About

This will be the seventh time Calgary has played host to the Tim Hortons Brier, and the fourth time it’s been played at the Saddledome — the three previous visits to the Saddledome (curling capacity: approximately 19,000 seats) produced Alberta champions: Kevin Martin in 1997 and 2009, and Randy Ferbey in 2002. Calgary previously played host in 1948, 1961 and 1980.

The 1997 Brier featured the single-game attendance record for the event: 17,024.

The 2015 Tim Hortons Brier will also be notable as it will feature, for the first time, both a Team Canada entry — the winner of the 2014 Tim Hortons Brier in Kamloops, B.C. — as well as a pre-qualifying round that will determine the final 12-team field for the main round robin. Fifteen teams (the 14 Member Associations and Team) will be eligible to compete in the Tim Hortons Brier. Four teams will compete in the pre-qualifying round just before round-robin play begins to determine the final two entries. The format will be announced at a later date.

    Seats too low

by JZiegler on 2015-03-23Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

The Brier overall was amazing and great to be a part of in Calgayr, however they either should not sell the seats in the bottom 5 rows or mark them as obstructed. We were in row 3 and so low that we couldn't see the house at our end of the rink. The reason was because of the scoreboards that they set up behind the rink. Either move the scoreboards so we could have a better view or let fans know the seats would be blocked. Highly disappointing. we moved higher up but had to shuffle twice which was a pain especially because we arrived early. I would like a refund on seats with obstructed view. thanks, Jen

The Brier is a great event to come to Calgary, just wish and trust Curl Canada will get rid of the ridiculous qualification round for certain parts of Canada. The Brier is one of the true national Canadian sport competitions we have and all provinces should be represented., what a shame if PEI had been eliminated by the Yukon. The young PEI team provided some excellent competition for other teams and great games to watch. I note more and more the Brier is more for TSN and its audience--no mention of appreciation of the paying fans in the Saddledome until the presentation of the medals at the end. It seems it is hurry up and get started or hurry up and wait for the TSN director to tell the curlers when to start or when to end.. The curlers are the "show", they put so much into the game for not a lot in return in way of compensation. The Brier is unique, stop trying to make it like a Las Vegas show, why no piper to lead the curlers in, why no one in person singing our National Anthem?

Please do not denigrate the wonderful history of the Brief by having Las Vegas show girls at the Gold medal presentation!!! Me and my friends felt it was tacky and inappropriate.

    Excellet rock movement

by YYCKGD on 2015-03-15Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

Curling was excellent - lots of rock movement to make the shot making fantastic. The Saddledome is way to expensive to hold this event for 10 days $9 for a beer - ridiculous. Line ups to get in were ridiculously long. Only one door open at the main entrance ...... even on the final day

    Tim Hortons Brier Calgary 2015

by kdwasthere on 2015-03-14Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

Event was all one could ask for, excellent games, fun crowd and good weather. Only down side is the fact that the event organizers do not respect ticket holders in regards to entry for the Brier patch. Unfortunately anybody off the street could walk in and have first choice on seating leaving us ticket holders who went and watched the games having to stand all night . Organizers need to respect those who pay the bills or we just will not go in the future. Take a good look at the Saskatoon Brier in 2012 where ticket holders got entry first after the night game then the general public.

    The Brier was awesome!

by mrdale on 2015-03-13Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

I have only one complaint about this transaction: I purchased 4 Full Event Tickets which included seats for the Tie-Breakers games. There ended up being no tiebreakers and I am sure the prices for them was factored into the total purchase. Therefore I am expecting there will be a credit applied to my credit card. I would appreciate a prompt reply to this request. Dale Leschert

    Boss brier

by locolo on 2015-03-12Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

The event is recommended. Games were great, players very professional. However there is lots curling association can do to improve. Times on tickets were not times games played. Had we not been there all day, would have missed parts of events. We had to buy tickets for games not played - where is the refund?? Stopped 50-50 in last game before 4th end was completed - no announcement of same via mc - only a small handwritten sign on 50-50 booth in concourse.

So many close games and extra ends

    by Superuke2 on 2015-03-12Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

We were so pleased with our seats....the view of all the sheets of ice was great. The fact that most of the games were so close and the number of extra end games made the week's event more exciting. Having the Patch and the Purple Heart Lounge locations to go to between games was good....it gave more options of entertainment and noise level. The entertainment on the ice was a great addition. The Saddledome is a great location for the Brier.
