TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS IN CONCERT:
As pioneers of heartland rock in the late-'70s, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers championed a no-frills, guitar-driven sound that set them apart from the increasingly technology-oriented approach of much of the era's pop music. Today Tom Petty & Co. are as relatable as ever, treating fans to their classic songs about working class issues and everyday American life with a passion and flair that belie their years. Whether Petty is dancing across the stage with a pair of maracas or lending his iconic voice to hits like "American Girl" and "Mary Jane's Last Dance," he and the band never fail to electrify at their live shows, and their 2014 tour dates with special guest Steve Winwood will be no different.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
After playing in several other Gainesville, FL bands in the early-'70s, Tom Petty formed the Heartbreakers in 1976. The band's self-titled debut initially failed to gain traction in the US, but American audiences eventually caught wind of its popularity in the UK, leading to the 1978 re-release of early single "Breakdown" to a Top 40 spot. In 1979 the band scored their true US breakthrough with the hits "Refugee" and "Don't Do Me Like That," That", the latter becoming their first Top 10 hit. A series of successful albums followed in the '80s, earning the band an impressive string of hits as well as a supporting slot on Bob Dylan's '86/87 True Confessions world tour. Their chart run continued in the '90s with No. 1's like "Learning to Fly" and "You Don't Know How It Feels", which earned Petty a Grammy in 1996 for Best Rock Vocal Performance. Nearly four decades after their debut, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will continue to treat fans to their exceptional live show on their latest tour.

Amazing show. Amazing venue. Amazing finale. I am so happy we were able to see their last show
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers totally rocked it on Thursday. It was my 5th time seeing the group but my first time at the Bowl. What a spectacular venue! The sound was incredibly clear and crisp, and the effects were really cool. The set list was great, and I especially enjoyed hearing "Crawling Back to You". A wonderful concert!
Great concert, the blending of different instruments amazing. Tom has such a good way of making everyone sing and feel good. Great venue beautiful evening with great people listening to the best music.
Was hesitant at seeing them first as they are older performers. I can honestly say they are as good today as you would have seen them 30 years ago, spot on! Blown away!
flew in from Alberta for the concert and it was worth the trip. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers put on one amazing concert...song after song. If you wonder if hes still got, I can say without hesitation, HES GOT IT STILL AND ROCKED IT. I would see him again if we had the chance in a heartbeat. Get tickets and go, you wont regret it. The preband the Lumineers were great too. They are a riot and fun to watch. They know how to get the crowd going. would love to see them again too. Thanks!
One of the best concerts I have seen. The whole place rocked on for a good two hours. The whole stadium was standing for the entire thing. Amazingly awesome!!!!!
As it was my first concert at Rogers Arena, I guess I was expecting more. I'm certain the sound is good from the floor where they are monitoring it but, from anywhere else, that arena has a wicked echo that really detracted from the quality of the sound. The artists did put on a good show, though.
The talent of these musicians shined ! Class act ! Sound was perfectly balanced
Walked on stage to a standing ovation, the crowd showed the love all night. Tom's voice was in fine form, as was his stage presence. Loved all the tunes he played, as any fan knows he has a huge catalogue of A-1 songs to pick from. Just wished he would have played one or two from Hard Promises, his best album IMO after Damn the Torpedoes. Enjoyed the extra stretched out solos that he, Michael and Ben partaked in. Fans did their traditional sing along with Learning to Fly, Free Fallin, You don't know how it feels, etc. Great concert from start to finish once again. The Heartbreakers never get old or phone it in. Loved it!!!
Completely devastated to not have seen Lumineers. Tom Petty was great. Even with his technical difficulties.... Waiting outside with thousands of people trying to get in 1 gate. Come on!!??? Tickets should state band start time. I've never been to a show this big and had a band start so early. We would have been in if there wasn't one entrance for everyone. A lot of angry and upset people..... And an email at 5:30 to tell you not to bring a bag or whatever to the show is not acceptable. We had left for the show to grab dinner before show before i got the email. Tom was great, as always <3 saved the night
