    Leafs far from skillfull

by seveneleven on 2010-11-17Air Canada Centre - Toronto

The Leafs were too casual in their efforts. They could have done more to entertain their young fans. It was a terribly sober and lack lustre affair. The lone bright spot was that MLSE donated $90K of ticket receipts to charity.

    Skills Competition 2010

by 2cherish on 2010-11-17Air Canada Centre - Toronto

I enjoyed the skills competition but not as much as I did at the one I went to one back in 2001 or 2002 which seemed to be much better, much more organized, and was actually a skills competition, unlike this one. It was cute to see other hockey players in Timbit hockey and such but I paid to see a Leafs skills competition so watching them not trying their best to score on a kid wasn`t really all that fun. I was there to see the skills of the Leafs. The whole judging panel was dumb...just take it out all together. That`s more fun for the people doing it, not for the audience. I feel like I paid $25 for a comedy show rather than a skills competition. Honestly, other than 2 events, the target shot and the hardest shot, there was no other event that day that showed off the Leafs skills. If it`s a hockey competition for all ages, than don`t call it a Leafs skills competition because I expect to see the skills of the Toronto Maple Leafs displayed. That`s what the advertising suggested but I don`t feel that`s what the paying fans got. It was great that parking was only $5 across the street but $7 for a hot dog and $4 for a bottle of pop in the ACC is absolutely ridiculous!!

I think the skills competions was great. My son and I went. We could see the players having fun with the whole thing and that made the day even more enjoyable. Most other years, they gave away t-shirts, etc and nothing was given away this year. that was a kind of disappointment, but over all a great morning.

    Whats the Bottomline....

by Leafer4life on 2010-11-16Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Some disappointment in the event. We came mainly to see the LEAFS in action, skill action. Too many minor kid league shenanagans.....also 2 girls racing???. If I'd want to be politically correct for everyone to see, I would go see a girls game/tournament. Almost fell asleep with all these kids skating around, event after event. The minor league goalies going around and hitting each other. What was that all about???????. But the pluses were great. Leaf skills exhibited in various capacities. I would have liked to see more mini-like drills from the Leafs, such as 2 on 1's. Three on three's etc... Also the Leaf Girls were a fantastic sight for sore eyes. Innovative fun slingshot event. The scoreboard should have shown them up there more along with the Leafs. Hopefully next year, more actual Leaf focus!!!. Thanks.

    Skilled?

by Fanfare on 2010-11-16Air Canada Centre - Toronto

The venue was excellent, the entertainment brought many fun moments the kids really enjoyed. Having young prospects was in some cases more rewarding than watching the limited abilities of some of the Leafs. But at the end of the day it was all for a great cause and the Leaf players were coming off a late game against the Canucks. All the modern stick technology and player fitness regime and no leaf shooter reached 100mph, wow, remember Al Iafrate, Chad Kilger etc. One last thing, 6 goalie shots and 0 goals!

    Go! Leafs Go!

by JustPeachy48 on 2010-11-16Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Great show.....this is my second year going and thought it was great both times. It's amazing to be just feet away from your favourite players and watching them in a relaxed setting. The kids all seem to really enjoy it!!!!

He scored one of the best freestyle shootout goals I've seen.

My family and I loved the skills competition! It was great value and a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon. You can get close to the players and see them having fun.
