    Extraordinary!

by JMRReview on 2013-12-20Toronto Center for the Performing Arts - Toronto, ON

The Upper Canada Chorus performs at a level unmatched by any choir I have seen. The purity of their voices, the quality of their harmony, their discipline, their connection to every piece of music they perform. It is truly extraordinary! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of The Spirit of Christmas. It was their best Christmas show to date. The selection of songs and the beautiful arrangements, the candle light at the end--- I left this experience feeling as though I had been given a beautiful, treasured gift. And my soul felt inspired and uplifted by these angelic voices. I cannot end this review without commenting as well on Mark Masri. He was phenomenal. Mark is talented and charismatic and a joy to watch. His performance of O Holy NIght literallly brought me to tears. It has always been one of my favorite Christmas songs, but Mark's emotional and moving rendition was nothing short of magical. Do yourself a favor and buy his Christmas CD NOW! It has become an instant favorite in my household. Thank you Upper Canada Chorus for this most unforgettable night!

    You will be delightfully amazed!

by Babycako on 2013-12-16Toronto Centre for the Arts - Toronto

This is the 6th year I have attended the Spirit of Christmas Concert by Upper Canada Chorus. It truly amazes me how each year they have been able to make it into an even more amazing event! The choir has grown so much - and it still baffles me how they were able to have children, ages from 6 and up to sing like this. The pieces they choose are difficult - yet the chorus is able to sing them so well. They sound truly like angels singing. Not only is the choir impressive. Each year, they have invited world-class musicians as guest singers. From Colm Wilkinson, Joe McDermott, Susan Egan, Jodi Benson, to the cast of Mama Mia and Cats. This year, their guest performer was Mark Masri, who has shared the stage with legends such as David Foster, Jim Brickman, Natalie Cole, Seal, just to name a few. He was truly impressive. I have no doubt that Mark Masri will become one of the best known Canadian performer internationally in the future. As I have said before, each year after the concert, I think that this was the best concert they have put on yet. However, year after year, Upper Canada Chorus continue to step up their game. Now I can't wait to see what they have in store for us next Christmas!

    The true Spirit of Christmas

by AlexJO on 2013-12-16Toronto Centre for the Arts - Toronto

This concert was heart-warming and uplifting and a perfect example of the spirit of Christmas. Seeing families come together from all over the GTA to celebrate the holidays through the love of music was nothing short of magical. It was a festive evening and the special guest Mark Masri filled the room with his enchanting tenor voice. Seeing the dynamic between him and the choristers was fantastic. Together, they filled the recital hall with beautiful sound, and even invited to audience to join in song and ring in the holidays. The choristers displayed true talent and excellent technique in their performance of classic holiday songs to German repertoire. The true spirit of the holidays is coming together, families and friends, to share in the love of music, and this concert demonstrated that flawlessly.

The show was fantastic! The Upper Canada Chorus goes where no children's choir has gone before in bringing choral music out to the masses. The show was a lot of fun. I love the audience participation songs, because I get to use my voice too! The choir was fantastic. They sounded amazing, and looked so professional. The harmonies were simply breathtaking. A must see show for any music lover out there!

You will be blown away by Upper Canada Chorus!

by Babycako on 2013-12-15Toronto Centre for the Arts - Toronto

We have been attending this concert for the 6 years now. It truly amazes me what the Upper Canada choristers can do vocally. Not only that, every year, they keep "upping" their game. Each year, I would come out thinking that was the best one thus far and couldn't think of how the subsequent year can get better - but sure enough, each year outshines the previous years! I have no idea how they do it! Another great part of the Upper Canada Chorus concerts is that they have always been able to invite world-class guest performers - from Colm Wilkinson, Joe McDermott, Jodi Benson, to the cast of Cats and Mamma Mia! This year, they invited Mark Masri - who has shared the stage with legends such as David Foster, Jim Brickman, Natalie Cole, Seal, just to name a few. He was so impressive. I think he will definitely be one of the most famous Canadian artists in the near future. Sorry to the Michael Buble's fans. I think Mark Masri is even better. Now I can't wait for next year to see how they will make it even better. I still find it impossible to top this year's but I also know that they will!
