About

Vampire Weekend is a two-time Grammy-winning alternative rock band currently composed of frontman Ezra Koenig, bassist Chris Baio and drummer Chris Tomson. Emerging from the mid-aughts indie rock scene in New York City out of Columbia University, Vampire Weekend released their self-titled debut to immediate critical and commercial success in 2008, with the album debuting at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 and its breakout single “A-Punk” earning an RIAA platinum certification. The band’s 2010 follow-up Contra confirmed their ascent after debuting atop the Billboard 200, while the single “Cousins” became their first song to hit the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. The band’s 2013’s effort Modern Vampires of the City similarly topped the Billboard 200 and garnered the band’s first Grammy Award. 2019’s Father of the Bride became their third album to debut at No. 1, and the album’s high watermark came from lead single “Harmony Hall,” which reached a career-best No. 5 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. The album netted the band its second Grammy, and Vampire Weekend’s 2019 North American tour saw the band perform some of their biggest shows to date, including Madison Square Garden in New York.

The concert was full of people's favorite musics !

by AK on 2019-10-15Deer Lake Park - Burnaby

I really enjoyed the show cause Vampire weekend played so many songs almost non-stop! and They didn't just played the new album , but played variety songs from the first album to the newest ! I never been to the concert like they played so many songs. Most of times, singers talked a lot during the show - which is also nice but we basically there to listen to their songs, so I was very happy and satisfied how their show went. and the venue was "general admission only " so if you want, you can be really close to the stage and bands which was very nice! and if you brought a family, you can stay a bit further and have a seat on the ground and enjoy the music :) I hope they come back again soon ( not like 9 years apart next time!)

Meh concert - cold and wet weather wasn’t the bands fault.

by Oxford comma on 2019-10-15Deer Lake Park - Burnaby

Ticket price way too high for experience provided by venue for this concert. General admission. No video screens, or any Impressive visuals. Difficult to get near the stage to see the band members. Accessible parking not signed well and route to Festival lawn difficult to find.

    A wonderful concert

by Sinan Ali on 2019-10-02Deer Lake Park - Burnaby

The band came on stage even before their scheduled time. Because the concert was performed at a park in a residential neighborhood, there was a hard-curfew at 10:00PM. They started playing one song after another with only seconds between songs in order to deliver as many songs as possible to their fans within the allotted time. Other than their fantastic performances, the two things that impressed me the most were: - Extending the songs by jamming the melodies in different styles: When some songs were finished, they continued playing the melodies, but they switched the song style in a most amusing way. For example, a songs with a Hawaiian styles was played in a Hard-Rock style, a song with Reggae style was played in Jazz style, and so on - Asking the fans for requests: This means that the band would have had to practice most of their roster to be ready to perform any song requested All in all, it was a wonderful concert!

Fifth time seeing them. Still great!

by Guy at the Falafel Shop on 2019-10-02Deer Lake Park - Burnaby

This band just keeps getting better at live performances. It was a very different show compared to Pemberton in 2008. It took a while for the crowd to warm up and the rain held off. The set list was a nice mix of songs from all albums. I was impressed watching them play Finger Back, and Diane Young was fantastic! Would go for a sixth time any day.

    So So Good

by Paddy on 2019-10-01Deer Lake Park - Burnaby

Unfortunately missed Soccer Mommy due to not enough buses running (more on that in a minute), got there band came on at 7:45pm on the dot and played until curfew at 10pm. Performed a great mix of new album along with stuff from the first 3, along with the live debut of "Jessica" a song that Ezra did with Major Lazer. Getting out of this venue was easy but getting home certainly wasn't. There isn't enough transport out of the venue and back to Metrotown. Live Nation should consider putting some money aside from the budget of the show to offering shuttle buses or putting it to Translink to put on more buses.

    Finally Vampire Weekend concert

by Allinrep on 2019-09-28Deer Lake Park - Burnaby

Such a great concert! The band is funny, generous (they took requests!) and they write the best pop tunes out there!!! The venue, Deer Lake Park, was really chill and relaxed to be at. Despite rain warnings the evening was mild and dry! Loved seeing them and already looking forward to the next time they come.

This venue is great, you can enjoy the band without missing anything whilst being at the beer garden or food trucks. Band was PERFECT. great set, played right till curfew - took 2 requests before playing their final song, had 20 seconds to spare. So cool!

    I love Vampire Weekend, but...

by Angie on 2019-09-28Deer Lake Park - Burnaby

I *really* love Vampire Weekend and was ecstatic to see them after not having been to Vancouver in 9 years, BUT Deer Lake Park at the end of September? It was rainy (luckily only off/on), ground was mushy and a bit chilly (thankfully the cloud cover kept it warmer than it otherwise would have been). Probably why the crowd was so mundane. And tickets that ended up costing over $80/each!? Puuuuhhhlleassee. So pricey. Definitely wouldn't pay that much for another show at that time of the year at Deer Lake Park.
