    Incredible

    by E on 2020-03-14Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

The sound of the symphony sitting within the audience was life-changing! Witnessing the passion of the conductor was the right kind of contagious needed in these challenging times. The world could use more events like this (when we can gather again). Commodore was the perfect venue for this debuting event!

    Incredible experience

by Amirkassa on 2020-03-14Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

This was a once in a lifetime experience for me. Sitting in the heart of orchestra, being completely surrounded by all the instruments. Feeling the vibrations of the cellos and the drums. Thank you VSO for trying this experiment and Commodore for providing the venue. You should do this again! Next time, with a choir spread around the room?

    Amazing!!

by Cat on 2020-03-14Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

We loved the VSO performance of Beethoven’s fifth symphony at the Commodore. The concept was really cool - having the musicians sitting throughout the audience. It gave us a completely new perspective. It was great to see conductor from the perspective of the musicians, that was actually my favourite part!

    Fanstastic, Brilliant

by KT on 2020-03-14Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

What an incredible experience, sitting amongst the orchestra (pump up the Basses!). You really could get a physical feel for the music, and Beethoven's 5th was a perfect choice to hear the theme being thrown around the different sections of the orchestra and audience. The only drawback was it was a 19+ venue. I had anticipated this one for months, waiting to buy tickets for our family including our two boys who play clarinet. So great dissapointment they couldn't attend at that venue; I hope they do it again, and at a place that can be more inclusive.

I love rock but LOVED the VSO too

by Totofan on 2015-07-27Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver, BC

Went to the Pokemon show with my son at the Orpheum in Vancouver...really loved the show. These musicians are first rate, the sound was awesome and I was blown away by that full symphony experience (which I am not accustomed to). I'm used to three or four players, this was over the top in a really great way.

I wasn't sure what to expect as I have never been before, but i was on the edge of my seat and wanting more. The quality of musicianship was truly exciting to watch. I wish we had season's tickets and could go often.

It is always such a treat to attend a Symphony event at the Chan Center - the sound is so pure - the acoustics are fantastic and there definitely should be more Symphony concerts scheduled at the Chan Center!

    Delightful performance!!

by Subtlelyra on 2013-12-27Chan Centre For The Performing Arts - Vancouver

It was such a treat to hear Rachel Barton Pine lead a small group of VSO players in some Vivaldi, Mozart and other works. She played well-known favourites but it was an effervescent performance! Thank you!
