    The Maestro was in house!

by Fan71 on 2018-01-30The Canyon Santa Clarita - Santa Clarita

New Canyon club is a nice venue! Meal was excellent! Malmsteen was excellent!!! I would definitely go back to this venue and will also catch Malmsteen every chance I get! Seats on the chart when booked was dead centre. Actual seats were at the far side of the front of the stage. Was disappointed they weren't where I paid to sit. I know the club is new and for that I'll give a hall pass this time. Still enjoyed the show because Malmsteen was that good!

    Yngwie rocks!!

by NoyMyRealName on 2014-07-01River Rock Casino Resort - Richmond

Great concert enjoyed the playing, i was a little disappointed that bumblefoot and Gary Hoey we were only on for a short time, good selection of liquor, but overpriced seven dollars for a beer up to nine dollars for import. Overall a good, but short, evening.

    Malmsteen's still got it!

by AFaceInTheCrowd on 2014-07-01River Rock Casino Resort - Richmond

Malmsteen at River Rock Casino, for the Guitar Gods 2014 tour. He was on fire! Keyboardist was singing, didn't recognize him, or any of the other players - lots of talent, but not personality. The drummer looked like he just rolled out of bed, bass player (who did all the talking between songs) looked like he had a hairpiece. But, the band played flawlessly! Couple if new tunes from Relentless, a couple from a few years back (Razor Eater was especially good!), plus the classics. Yngwie's wife and son surprised him with a birthday cake, which was cool. Bumblefoot was cool, played a dbl-neck, which had a fretless. Romped through a cover of Maiden's 'Wasted Years'. Gary Hoey was enthusiastic, but dull. No Uli Jon Roth. :(

Flew from Calgary for this show. Worth the trip!

by ShredFan on 2014-07-01River Rock Casino Resort - Richmond

I've been an Yngwie fan for a long time; it was a thrill to finally see him live and in a small venue with a small crowd. Bumblefoot was awesome and I never realized how cool Gary Hoey is. My only advice to Yngwie would be to keep his ego in check. I've met other great guitarists - Joe Satriani and Zakk Wylde in particular - and for all their great musicianship, they are really humble guys and grateful to their fans. Yngwie seemed self-indulgent at times. He threw a temper tantrum when the lighting guy made a mistake. Also, Yngwie would go off stage from time to time and his bass player would crack lame jokes and pretty much beg the crowd for applause - kind of like Peter Pan trying to revive Tinkerbell. Yngwie just needs to stay on stage and do his thing and we'll cheer for him all he wants. Still, watching Yngwie live was a thrill and I'll see him if he comes to Calgary. Bumblefoot's technique really blew me away: the man can sing a shred at the same time. I loved Gary Hoey's cover songs: they were the perfect mix of taste and guitar chops. He's also a really cool, humble guy from what I could tell.

    Yngwie is a Guitar God!

by Soth897 on 2011-10-22The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

The opening band was a local group from the GTA, and they were alright, but nothing to write home about (although they ended with a cover of Megadeth's "Peace Sells", which was pretty good). Yngwie's performance completely blew me away. He played for something like 3 hours straight, sometimes with the rest of the band, sometimes just by himself. It was quite possibly the best concert I've ever been to. The man can play blindingly fast, and it seemed like everyone was just entranced through the whole show. Had never seen him live before, but would drop everything to go see him again. Simply amazing. He really does deserve the title of Guitar God.

by perpetualmetropolis on 2011-10-21The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

Yngwie is definately is still at the top of his game after all these years. Great to see a huge turnout even though the weather was bad. Band was phenomenal. Tim "Ripper" Owens was amazing on vocals.
