Royal Wood...The Man
Arden Theatre - St Albert
Excellent concert by Royal Wood but found the lead guitarist over powered the singing and other instruments. The guitarist was excellent but blame this piece on the sound guy. Loved the show and now enjoying his CD's.

Beautiful experience
The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto
This was the first time going to one of his shows and I am so sad I haven't gone sooner. This was one of those most engaging and heartfelt concerts I've been to in a long time. Royal is such a talented artist yet he is so down to earth and humble. I felt like it was a conversation with a friend. I will definitely be going to any future events he has.

Great Performer
The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto
Royal was very entertaining. The sound was high quality. The set list was great. The stories he told were touching and humerous. There was a super irritating woman looking for attention that cackled throughout the attention, but that was the only negative. Both opening acts were also excellent.

Royal did himself proud
National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa
I was at Royal Wood's first NAC appearance when he opened for David Gray. His return with the NAC Orchestra was a moment of artistry. His usual passion, talent and diversity showed through. It was clearly a show he savoured putting together and then delivering. As always -- he met with people at the end of a long show -- and patiently said hello, took photos and signed for us. He invests in his fans. Now if he could only play Step Back at a future concert all will be good.

The evening was very entertaining. It was wonderful to hear the NAC Orchestra blend with Royal Wood and Rose Cousins.
ROYAL WOOD IN CONCERT:
Canadian singer-songwriter Royal Wood boasts a sound as distinguished as his name. His expertly crafted compositions feature an assortment of lush orchestral instruments, and an arsenal of talented players bring songs like "Forever and Ever" and "Not Giving Up" to life at his live shows. Wood always delivers on tour with his charismatic demeanor and virtuosic piano skills, and his 2014 album The Burning Bright has anticipation for future tour dates at fever pitch.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born and raised in the Canadian city of Petersborough, Wood grew up immersed in music, taking up the piano at age four and dabbling in a variety of other instruments during grade school. While studying business at McGill University, he spent time performing in various Montreal jazz clubs, honing his songwriting and guitar skills. His 2003 debut release The Milkweed EP drew significant praise from critics, paving the way for his equally acclaimed 2004 full-length debut Tall Tales. The album drew Wood comparisons to luminaries Jeff Buckley and the Beach Boys, encouraging him to write his most ambitious material yet for sophomore album A Good Enough Day, which featured extensive orchestration and guest musicians like Hawklsey Workman and Kurt Winghammer. In 2012, Wood landed on Canadian charts with his fourth LP We Were Born to Glory, following up in 2014 with The Burning Bright and an accompanying tour.
