Disappointing event
PAC-CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Am Aquatics Centre and Field House - Toronto
The event was a disappointment. Compared to other PanAm events, this was overpriced. paid $35 a ticket to sit on the lawn at a high school to watch 2 races. The last minute change to the location of the event came as a surprise, particularly when even the PanAm website did not confirm the change, and those looking after the information phone lines were not aware of the change in venue either. We were told that parking would be a problem and to use public transit instead. Got there and found the parking lot was only about 1/2 to 2/3 utilized so the warning was misleading.

Change of venue and poor transportation
PAC-CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Am Aquatics Centre and Field House - Toronto
The venue was changed on the rollerblading event the morning of the event! There was no special transportation to the event, so we took a 45 minute subway to a regular city bus that stopped at regular city stops for 30 minutes then we found out the venue had changed and it was a 10 minute walk. We got to the event right before it started and the event was only 1 hour so we spent 3 hours in transit for a 60 minute event. Very poorly organized and another example of a terrible pan am games organized by the city if Toronto.

Total disappointment
St. John Paul Catholic Secondary School - Toronto
Very disappointed at the Roller Blade Speed Skating event for the Pan Am Games. The whole event was less than 60 min excluding the 20 min intermission. We have to sit on a grass hill on an extremely hot day. Even more strange is the fact that the venue was changed from the Aquatic Centre to a High School?! It was truly terrible and I wish for a refund! I tried to complain but there isn't any valid email address on the Pan Am website or a phone number that it is not the Ticketmaster phone number.

Beautiful and interesting sport
EXC-Exhibition Centre - Toronto
Very interesting to watch. Similar to ice skating but a lot more falling on the jumps. Sold out crowd. Crowded bleacher seating. Cool Pan Am vibe and energy.

Something New
EXC-Exhibition Centre - Toronto
Figure roller skating was a new sport to view for me. It is like a clunky version of figure ice skating. The jumps, spins and other special moves, generally are not as complicated as those done on the ice. This sport still requires a lot of skill and control.

It was an interesting event, however, we were unaware until we arrived that it was outdoors and there were no seats - i.e., sat on the lawn. There were few refreshments nearby and we had to walk a bit from the parking lot and venue where we thought the competition was being held.

Roller sports - blink and miss it
PAC-CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Am Aquatics Centre and Field House - Toronto
Compared to the other pan am events that were very well organized this one was disappointing. I want my money back! (Seriously, how do I get a refund?) First there was no notice anywhere that it was offsite. Trekked in the heat down the street. One security line. No seating, just a grass hill. By the time we got in and seated the women were almost done. Announced a 20 minute break before the men started. Each race was less than 18 seconds - there were around 12-15 participants I think. That was it. No other races. A waste of time and money. I'm still upset. This was a category A ticket for nothing.

Venue not as billed
PAC-CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Am Aquatics Centre and Field House - Toronto
We enjoyed watching the roller speed skating sprints. There were two issues: 1. The event was advertised as being at the Pan Am Centre (PAC) at Morningside/Military Trail. It was not: it took place at St. John Paul Catholic Secondary School about half a mile west, not a location mentioned anywhere on our tickets or the Toronto Pan Am website. So there was some confusion among spectators as a result, and we came with empty refillable water bottles that were permitted at PAC but useless here. 2. Because the venue had very modest services and amenities, we did not feel it was worth the $35 charged for an adult ticket. Spectators sat on their bums on a grass berm, not what one would have expected, and nowhere was it indicated there would be no seats. Didn't cause problems for us, but could have for elderly or less mobile spectators. On the plus side, this high school now has a lovely new track.

The event was awesome, the competitors did their very best to entertain us, the level of skill was 10 out of 10

First Pan Am Experience
EXC-Exhibition Centre - Toronto
These tickets were purchased for my parents (as a father's day present) and both parents said they felt as though it was a show rather than a game they were watching. The participants did extremely well and displayed real passion for the sport.
