Absolutely brilliant performers and rather glamorous show however it is way too long for what it offers. The part after the intermission was just more of what was offered on the first part. Very little dancing was involved. Mostly a collage of pieces of visual movements. Pina has so many more interesting choreographies. The choice of pieces was definitely far from my taste.

Outstanding!

The Pina Bausch Tanztheater never fails both to entertain and to challenge its audiences. Palermo was no exception providing the audience with all the pathos, humour and darkness of the human condition. We went to Ottawa from Toronto to see this “not to be missed” performance. At about 3 hours in length it was worth every penny and more.

Palermo Palermo on Friday at NAC

The Pina Bausch performance was a wonderful event. I went to the spectacle hoping for a contemporary theatrical dance event, and it turned out that the performance was much more complex. It is an amazing artistic event, one that keeps flourishing in our thoughts after its end, as it successfully enriches the audience with a layered and stylized approach to life in Palermo.

It was a very special event, unusual for Ottawa. Absurd, abstract, random but super interesting and loved it overall. I had to look for interpretation of symbols as I sure missed a lot. I wish more info was available online to figure out some of the scenes presented in the show.it will be a show hard to forget. Ottawa needs more shows like this. Thank you for the opportunity.

Edgy!

Intelligent and uncomfortable, pushes the viewer to question themselves, society and notions of identity. Incredible skill on display. Worth staying for the second half, if the first leaves you on edge.

magnificent performance

This show was an excellent combination of dance, theatre, and music. It was partly Beckettian and surrrealistic, and partly political/historical. This is a performance of a caliber that you usually find in New York or Washington, rarely in Ottawa. How wonderful it would be if there were more such productions in our capitol city!

A walk into the past and an exceptionally gifted choreograph

An amazing work of art when cost is not giving a restriction of what can be achieved!!!

What was that?
National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa
That was the weirdest, most morbid, story-less dance performance we’ve ever seen. It dragged on, and on, and on, leaving us in limbo. Being a woman, I found it degrading, and never grasped the point of this performance. I felt empty, almost angry, and sad to have wasted an evening with our three generations coming together is precious time.

une pièce riche, forte, profonde, drôle parfois et logue. à voir pour amateurs sérieux de danse contemporaine.
