ERASURE IN CONCERT:
Nearly three decades after their debut, British synthpop duo Erasure continue to reign supreme on dance floors around the world. Combining the production skills of Vince Clark and the soaring vocals of Andy Bell, Erasure dominated European airwaves in the '80s and '90s with a massive string of hits that sound as fresh today as they did 25 years ago. Bell is a legendary live performer, maintaining an infectious energy and positivity as he lends his perfectly-preserved pipes to the love-drunk swoon of "Oh L'amour" and the uplifting message of "Chains of Love". The duo's unforgettable live shows never fail to spark impassioned dance parties among nostalgic fans, and their upcoming dates on the Violet Flame 2014 World Tour will be no different.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Erasure was formed in mid-'80s London by former Depeche Mode member Vince Clark and budding singer Andy Bell. Their 1985 debut album Wonderland failed to make much of an impact in Britain, but they hit the big time with their 1987 sophomore album The Circus, which remained on the UK Albums Chart for more than a year on the strength of hit singles "Sometimes" and "Victim of Love". The following year they achieved breakthrough success in America with the Top 20 hits "Chains of Love" and "A Little Respect", both from their third album The Innocents. That album was the first of five consecutive UK No. 1 records for the duo, a streak that culminated with 1994's I Say I Say I Say. With their 16th studio album The Violet Flame hitting shelves in 2014, Erasure will treat fans to a series of electrifying shows in support of the release.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"Andy Bell is one hell of a performer and had a lot of energy to bring their songs to life...I remember looking around and seeing my fellow concertgoers smiling from ear-to-ear and having an amazing sing-along experience. Definitely money well spent."
"Andy and Vince were awesome. The new songs are great and it was a blast hearing the old songs once again."
"Simply amazing! Erasure kept the crowd happy and dancing throughout the whole show."
Fantastic concert. Saw the same show in NYC the month prior. Highly recommended. Opening act was terrible though. Dragonette or something would have been much better.
I’ve loved Erasure from the very first time I heard them back in 1986 and was so sad when I wasn’t able to go to their concert at the Pacific Coliseum in the late 80’s, but just figured I’d see them next time they came to town. I never thought ‘next time’ would be 30 years later but it was 100% worth the wait. They put on one helluva fun show that is basically one big song-along. I didn’t think I could love Andy Bell more than I already did, but I do. He is so much fun to watch, especially when he dances and he interacts and talks to the audience more than anyone I’ve ever seen live. Also, as a massive Depeche Mode fan, it was a thrill to see Vince Clark, the founder of my two all time favourite bands, live. Now I just hope they don’t wait another 30 years to come back!
Simple set up but awesome concert. Loved the back up singers and overall vibe.
I have seen Erasure before, but the audience in Vancouver is what made this concert spectacular! The Buzz, the energy, the perfect mix of new and old favourites...top notch!
Loved the show from the starting, “Oh Lamour” right to the end. Andy Bell has fun with his dancing and we enjoyed his beautiful voice. My friends and I have waited years for Erasure to return to Vancouver and can’t wait for them to return!
Absolutely awesome concert! Amazing energy and the songs sounded as great as ever, I highly recommend that all Erasure fans check it out!
I've been a fan since the 80's, and what a treat to see these guys live - fantastic show, the audience was up and dancing the entire time (and in many cases, singing along).
Great show. Andy Bell still hasn’t lost his incredible voice. He’s a showman and even with a groin injury , he knocked out socks off!!
Awesome concert! Didn’t stop dancing the whole time! Loved it!
We spent most of the time at the bar because we only knew 2 songs, the one at the beginning and the one at the end/encore. Guess we’re too young or the concert was sandwiched between to important songs. The show was generally good.
