The best part was leaving
National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa
TSO was a bit ragged in the (rather pretentious) Samy Moussa Symphony No. 2. Next up was the Symphonie Espagnole, during which the very casually dressed audience--think sweats and lumberjack shirts--applauded enthusiastically after each movement. Groan. Seating was very similar to economy class in a discount airline, very narrow, with hard sharp armrests. When the star violinist broke a string and left the stage in confusion instead of taking up the first violinist's instrument, I was able to seize the opportunity and escape.

The Toronto Symphony Orchestra always puts on such a great performance. Their pieces were dynamic and created a wonderful atmosphere. 10/10 would recommend.

A concert to cherish
Meridian Arts Centre: George Weston - Toronto
Mozart's Requiem by the TSO and the Mendelssohn choir was an amazing experience, augmented by the outstanding acoustics of this menu. Hope to see and hear more concerts at this location.

Meridian Arts Centre: George Weston - Toronto
This is the first time me and my wife going to an Orchestra. I was in 2 minds before i booked it but I always wanted to go to one. We got front row seats and I must say that we were not disappointed. We loved the performance.

Glorious, life enhancing music
Meridian Arts Centre: George Weston - Toronto
We attended a recent Sunday afternoon performance by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra at the George Weston Recital Hall, to see how the experience compared to hearing the TSO at Roy Thomson Hall. From an acoustical perspective, it's like night and day: the clarity, transparency and resonance of the orchestra's sound at George Weston is simply glorious; RTH suffers a bit in comparison. The entire program was lovely, but their performance of Copland's Appalachian Spring was particularly beautiful and will stay in my memory for a long, long time. One non-artistic complaint, though: the water was off in the building, and the washrooms were closed - replaced for the duration by johnny-on-the-spot trucks. There was no communication about this, either when we bought the tickets or at any other time - couldn't tell if it was a that-day-only emergency or a longstanding situation. While it certainly didn't impair our enjoyment of the concert - which really was spectacular - it did seem like a lapse on the part of the venue.

Beautiful experience!

Firstly, the event and ‘on the ground’ organization is great. Watching the orchestra tuning while the sun is setting behind the Toronto skyscrapers is breathtaking. The sound quality is very good. Listening to the TSO in the comfort of our car was a visual, aural and physical pleasure. This year the orchestra playing Mozart, and Martines, sounded poorly integrated. Audience participation with honking applause was excessive, and might have irritated the conductor. Please continue to offer these performances.

Wonderful sound, plenty of room and such a treat to see the TSO again! Snacks could have been better, but we brought our own.

TSO performance was 👍 as usual. Loved the music, the beautiful sky in the background, and the people honking their car horns in applauding the TSO .
