About

Daughter of a music professor; trained classically in her home country of Russia, Regina's passion for music was clear from childhood.  Once she completed her studies she moved to the Bronx, New York and her life has never been the same. Influenced by her Russian and Jewish roots, as well her new love for the city Regina's songwriting took off. It was in the underground music scene of the East Village where she found fame. Still, her music is always evolving, channeling  influences like Chopin, Janis Joplin, to experimenting with unusual instruments and vocal styles, Regina never ceases to surprise.

After a number of self-funded and distributed albums, she finally got her first proper release in 2004 when Warner Brothers re-released her 2003 self-released album Soviet Kitsch. She released the highly anticipated follow-up album, Begin To Hope, in 2006. The single from the album, "Fidelity", was a big hit and helped the album peak at number 20 in the US Billboard chart. Her fifth full album, Titled Far, was a smash hit, it entered the US charts at number three and raised Regina's profile worldwide. In 2010 she performed at President Obama's reception at the White House. Her latest album, titled What We Saw from the Cheap Seats also entered the US album chart at number three.

Regina first toured nationally with The Strokes and this was quickly followed by a tour supporting The Kings of Leon. A series of headline theater shows followed the release of the album Far and in recent years she has made frequent appearances during the European Summer Festival season. Away from music, Regina does a great deal of work for human rights charities and has raised money for Doctors Without Borders helping earthquake victims.

    Incredible experience!

by Telseykiller on 2023-03-09Massey Hall - Toronto

Regina delivered incredible live vocals and piano, stunned with her personality and humour, overall an incredible experience. She has been my favourite artist for a long time now and to see her live for the first time was emotional to say the least. If you like Regina Spektor and only know a few songs, go ahead and see her live, the set list will inspire you. Happy to have gone ❤️

    Awesome show!

by StephB on 2023-03-06Massey Hall - Toronto

Loved the show itself. Awe-inspiring performer. Sound at Massey is second to none. Pillars are awkward but I suppose in some way it adds to the charm and uniqueness of the venue. Room for improvement- lines for washroom are so long that I gave up, wouldn’t have made it on time.

    Fabulously delightful!

    by J. D. on 2023-03-05Massey Hall - Toronto

I thoroughly enjoyed it!! Here's what I post after the show on Facebook: "The Regina Spektor concert tonight at Massey Hall was so wonderful I wish I could have taken you all with me! Delightful and fabulous! Her voice is stunning, her songwriting is brilliant...with lyrics that dazzle in their quirky creativity, and her piano work is spine-tingling! I've been a fan since I first heard her in 2007 and was so happy that I got to see her perform live. Added bonus...lovely people seated on either side! Sold out house and a crowd that ranged in age from 10 to 90!" It really was the highlight of my concert-going in 2022/23 so far!!

    Stunning sounds

by MelMather on 2023-03-05Massey Hall - Toronto

I loved the sound and the space (as always) and how filled the hall was with people from all walks of life were there to experience Regina spektor live. Every usher was extremely helpful and the security was especially helpful for getting me in after it had already started and for helping me and my friends after the concert. Merch lineups in the basement was led well by the staff. Only thing that I don’t know is Massey hall related was Regina’s lighting. It was quite bright and glarey, it was hard to make out her face. When I was there for Tim baker in December and concerts before the pandemic, the lighting was PHENOMENAL and quite breathtaking. With Regina’s show this week it didn’t seem the same. Maybe on purpose to focus mor3 on the single artist on stage somehow? But ya. My ONLY critique. The rest: 5 stars.
