This Canadian supergroup all hailing from the prairie provinces never fails to bring their everything to their shows! Each band member has an impressive list of experience with world wide famous artists. Drummer Shane Gaalaas has played with Michael Schenker, Yngwie Malmsteen, Uli Jon Roth and the B'z from Japan. Brent Fitz is the drummer with Slash, and also Bruce Kulick, and previously Alice Cooper, Gene Simmons, Union, Theory of a Deadman, Econoline Crush, Streetheart, Vince Neil, Harlequin, Sass Jordan etc. Cory Curko is the music director, guitarist and fiddler for Shania Twain. He has also played with Kelly Clarkson and Nelly Furtado and is one of the most sought after mix engineer/digital editors in the entertainment industry. Todd Kerns vocals are out of this world. Former lead singer of Age of Electric, Static in Stereo, Sin City Sinners, Raiding the Rock Vault and current bass player with Slash. They totally promote being Canadian and play covers of Classic Rock hits popular in Canada in the 80's. With 2 CD's behind them, and having just released an original song Never Enough For You, they are making a name on the concert circuits. Darby Mills joined them to sing Don't It Make You Feel. The whole crowd was singing and dancing the entire show. Those that had not seen them before were asking who are these guys, and that they were better than the entertainment in the big tent! The talent these 4 guys have is outstanding, check them out online!
We went around to quite a few of the team houses and everywhere people from all teams were partying and having a good time together. Only in Canada and only in the CFL can you put opposing team fans in a room together and see them become friends.
I enjoyed all the festivities. The tailgate will arty I chose to go to was not the greatest. I found it a little weird with the seating arrangements and the stage on the other side. Overall I really enjoyed it. Thank you Calgary ❤️
I had the good fortune to volunteer at the 2019 Grey Cup Festival and enjoyed every minute of it. I also attended the Grey Cup Rodeo which was a very entertaining and energetic event; loved it! George Canyon was stellar, our Stampeder Outriders a nice addition and the rodeo exciting! Our weather cooperated to make the outside activities even more enjoyable. The fireworks show was wonderful. The only event that didn't live up to expectations was the Fusion Indoor Tailgate party. This event was way too expensive for the poor value received (terrible food choices and badly managed coat check). Brett Kissel was excellent though; perhaps the $95.00 ticket was for his concert? Overall, the Festival was a huge success and great fun for adults and children.
The Grey Cup event was an exiting event and well planned but poorly communicated. More signs were needed on all sides of the stadium to include directions, event locations and notices including notices for no re-entry. Although we had bought tickets to the outdoor tailgate we enteted the stadium on the west side and were not able to exit on the east, where the event was being held, so we couldn't attend the event. In addition McMahon stadium has always done a poor job on sinage for washrooms and with the majority of guests unaware of where all of the washrooms are located the lineups were exvesively long.
We paid Over $200 for 2 tickets to the indoor tailgate party at the Grey Cup to be turned away because it was free admission after the game. Not impressed Grey Cup organization...not impressed!!😠
The Grey Cup festival in Calgary was so great. After having been to a few grey cups, I really appreciated the setup with all of the parties being located both in the same location and indoors in the BMO centre. It made it possible to go between all of the parties, and visit my friends regardless of which team they came to Calgary to support. I wish they had a single cover charge that would let you into ALL of the parties, so I didn't have to pay for each room separately. Having said that, the entertainment on site was top notch, and I had the most fun of all of the Grey Cups I've ever been to.
All in all a great weekend. Paid a big price for the indoor tailgate tickets but had NO accessible seats. After paying for entry, they let everyone in for free after the game (not impressed). Would really like to be able to buy non-alcoholic beer at the games. Not enough washrooms.
We were all about game day, and it was far from disappointing. The outdoor tailgate was awesome save the beer being expensive. Toque was an excellent choice for entertainment; a cover band doing all Canadian songs for a great Canadian game! Then the game. Winnipeg out coached and outplayed Hamilton on both sides of the field. The halftime show was great, engaging the crowd with lots of energy. And we lucked out with the weather. Couldn't ask for a better day
