About
MARCO BENEVENTO IN CONCERT:
Virtuoso pianist, songwriter, and studio wizard Marco Benevento has been conjuring up magical sounds with his arsenal of analog synths and circuit-bent toys since 1999. Benevento occupies a unique place at the intersection of art music, jazz, and indie pop, and his singular combination of kaleidoscopic keyboard arpeggios, soaring vocal hooks, and retro beats has earned him a diverse fanbase. His live shows blend the improvisatory ethos of jazz with the frenetic energy of rock, and the result is an all-out feast for the senses -- from his vocal shouts on "At the Show" to his knob-twiddling on "This Is How it Goes", Benevento always treats fans to a mind-blowing concert experience on tour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Livingston, New Jersey-Born Marco Benevento began playing the piano at age seven, and by his early teens he was making home recordings on his 4-track tape recorder. While attending high school he performed with various bands, and in 1999 he graduated from Berklee College of Music. Benevento established himself in NYC's experimental jazz scene as a member of the Jazz Farmers from 1999-2001, and his reputation continued to grow after he formed the Benevento Rosso Duo in 2002. In 2008 he released Invisible Baby, his first album as a studio pianist, and in 2009 he followed up with an album of covers titled Me Not Me. He found a wider audience with his critically acclaimed 2012 album Between the Needles and the Nightfall, which delved more deeply into pop music with guest vocals from Annakalmia Traver (Rubblebucket) and a cover of The Knife's song "Hearbeats". An endlessly creative performer known for his live manipulation of sounds on stage, Benevento continues to enthrall on his unforgettable tours.
