NEW EDITION IN CONCERT:
Style and charisma never go out of fashion, and legendary R&B group New Edition is a case in point. Paving the way for the boy band movement of the '80s and '90s with their meticulously coordinated image and tight vocal interplay, Bobby Brown and company continue to be the stuff of teen dreams, bringing audiences to their feet for a trip down memory lane at their dazzling live shows. Reunited (and it feels so good, ) the band's six original members hit the road in 2014 for a much-anticipated tour, treating fans to their finely-tailored threads and hits like "Candy Girl" and "Cool It Down."
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Formed in Boston in 1978, New Edition hit the big time with their 1983 debut album Candy Girl, landing three singles on the charts and becoming an overnight sensation with their boyish charm and carefully crafted image. Their self-titled 1984 sophomore album was an even bigger hit, topping the R&B chart on the strength of era classics like "Cool It Now" and "Mr. Telephone Man." The band's success in the mid-'80s was so considerable that it launched Bobby Brown to solo career stardom, with several other members finding success as spinoff group Bell Biv DeVoe in the '90s. Over the years New Edition has released seven studio albums, weathering hiatuses and reunions, but have rarely been joined by Brown in concert, making his presence on their 2014 tour all the more special.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"New Edition was on last and I had been waiting all day. They did not disappoint. It was so good seeing them live. They looked great and performed songs from each phase of their careers."
"It was the best concert ever. They still look the same and they still could move. It was just like when i was younger and I saw them. I felt like a teenager."
"I knew this was going to be good and it truly was!!! New Edition has never let me down. Back in the day they were terrific and they still are. They are true entertainers!"
Energy was unmatched! That’s all I have to say. From the time you step into the concert until the time you’ll leave!
New Edition was great, high energy, everyone was dancing. The sound system/engineer (don't know what/who was the problem) but there was lots of guitar feedback which drowned out the singing and microphone feedback (ear-piercing squeals). Love Johnny Gill but his new song went on and on and on... I think the lyrics consisted of 3 lines that repeated over and over for ~10 minutes.
The concert was awesome! Brought back great memories! Everyone seemed to have a great time singing and dancing to their tunes. If New Edition ever comes back to Vancouver, we'll definitely be there!
NE had never been to Vancouver before but it was worth the wait. High energy! Interactive with the crowd! Ralph Tresvant sounded better than ever! We were right up at the stage on the floor and everyone of them held my hand. Unforgettable night.
Smooth, slick and sensational. Ralph T. and the boys did not disappoint. Pros= They did some solo hits each, great energy, and great songs of course Cons= They were 20 min late, sound system at River Rock was not good, and it was too short.
All 6 members on one stage doing New Edition hits. Never thought it would ever happen again!... BBD, JG, BB, and RT also did their solo hits... My wife and I loved it and we'll remember it for ever... Great memories... Brought back lots of memories also.. worth the trip from Toronto. Great Venue and hotel as well.
It was amazing , sooo awesome!! Would go again tomorrow!!!
They can still move, just like the good old days. They are my old time favourite R&B Group.
First time seeing these guys live. First impression is that these guys haven't aged much lol. These dudes can sing live! Real soulful. None a that crap that passes for RnB these days. Real tight choreography and a well balanced show with the guys doing their solo hits in addition to the group hits. Crowd was loving every minute of it. Go see these guys while you have the chance!
