This was a stunning concert - truly a once-in-a-lifetime event.
This duo is fantastic. They make music for cello and piano come alive. The selected pieces reflect their international interest and commitment to build bridged between peoples.
It was a lovely experience and a honour to hear them LIVE...
The calibre and sophistication of Yo-Yo Ma's style and grace on stage brought the best to an unforgettable cultural experience. The emotion and the splendour of Yo-Yo Ma as one of the world's foremost musicians and talent was on display in full form and left the Ottawa crowd with a taste of world class. The NAC Orchestra was also in good form and complimented the unique style of Yo-Yo Ma. A memorable evening with twists and surprises that justified one's love and passion for the arts and for true talent. Ottawa will eagerly await Mr. Ma's return.
Not only did Yo-Yo Ma perform brilliantly, with complete passion and abandon, but our noble Prime Minister Harper gave us a warm and surprisingly great rendition of "A little Help from My Friends" by the Beatles, singing lead vocals! It was a wonderful, lush and formal occasion. The food was great, loved it!
I expected to enjoy a "magical evening" with the cello master Yo-Yo Ma. The music was fabulous, but the event was not what I expected. First of all, Mr. Ma only played about 3/5th of the concert. So I spent more magic with the orchestra. Luckily, they play well. My real issue was when Mr. Ma came on. We had prime seats and expected to see every drop of sweat glisten from his expert brow. Instead, we only saw his head when he bobbed to the left or the right since the conductor always blocked the view. My bad luck I was in row F, orchestra, on the right side and expecting a super view. But really... I could have stayed at home to listen to his music rather than pay the $300 to see the back of Maestro Zuckerman.
I do wish i knew it was such a black tie event and i dressed better but the event and Yo Yo ma was Amazing
