    Blake Shelton stole the show!

by granny1950 on 2011-08-31Burl's Creek Park - Oro Station

First I want to say the lineup was GREAT......I realize this was the first year and I certainly can understand the disorganization. After 2 1/2 hours of waiting and finally getting set up by 10 PM finally we were there. I suggest that the grounds open a day or more previous to the event so people can go in and set up their units and you would have a lot less chaos. The weather great, the line great, what more could you ask for.....well I certainly do have a few comments and suggestions that I hope you will consider constructive. First of all we paid the same money as all the young people there but there were so many places to stand but my husband and I are not able to stand so we need to have chairs to sit in. By the time we were moved several times to way behind the orange line the bands were so far away it was hard to tell who was who. I think the chairs should have a section closer to the stage so we could watch the show as well as the young kids standing. Your lighting equipment should be back further so there could be seats put in that area. for the 'OLDER CROWD" In front of the orange line we were not allowed to put our chairs but Friday night no one was even in that area until dark and a few sat the chair there and no one said anything. Saturday night on that same area of grass (beside the lighting) no one was allowed to put a chair but people could sit on the grass.....now that makes no sence at all to me or anyone else that was there. There were people in purple t-shirts that said "ask me" on the back.....well anything you asked they didn't know and the security they were a joke, not sure where you got them from but they were very uneducated. The camping I think could be better organized by having a section for trailers and a different spot for tents, I think you could have fit a lot more people in. Also I suggest that a club like Boy Scouts or some organization go around to the camper and I am sure they would donate their beer cans as they were throwing them in the garbage and there is money to be made from them. I think the washrooms were kept very well. I think the website previous to the weekend was not imformative at all, lacked a lot of information. As I said I hope you consider this constructive, as I think it could be a very good festival with a little more organization and consideration for every one there.

    CMT Festival = Fantastic!!

by MelodyTunes on 2011-08-31Burl's Creek Park - Oro Station

I greatly enjoyed attending the first annual CMT music festival in Oro Station, Ontario this past weekend. The park venue was well organized and maintained. I liked that the venue had enough property to accommodate viewers sitting in lawn chairs and others that wanted to stand close to the stage. Plus, aside from merchandise vendors and a few shops; I liked there was a "country store" that offered fresh fruit and some items that people tend to forget when the pack for a camping weekend. Overall, I would give this festival a Two Thumbs Up!

    Great Weekend :)

by rascal3 on 2011-08-31Burl's Creek Park - Oro Station

Good venue and excellent artists! Appreciated the safeness with the amount of police and medics available. Would have appreciated more vendors, since I did not spend the time between shows in the beer tent. Loved meeting Dean Brody and liked how comfortable the artists were with their fans. looking forward to the lineup next year and hope to see my favorites, Blake Shelton and Rascal Flatts, again!!!

    CMT Music Festival, Burls Creek

by Bellelady on 2011-08-31Burl's Creek Park - Oro Station

Definitely would recommend the full weekend early bird ticket which included VIP parking. Got in the gate and out again in 5 minutes. No hours of waiting. Excellent list of top name country acts. Lots to see, lots to do, lots of ways to spend away your money.

    Burls Creek

by traveller1 on 2011-08-31Burl's Creek Park - Oro Station

Entertainment was fantastic. Too long between shows. Ticketing was confusing and too expensive. I over paid by at least $60 maybe more. Camping should be divided into party area and family area. Show area shoud be open at all times for access to venders. Coolers should be allowed in show area, you will still make money at the beer garden. Ticket system for food and drink is a rip off, you end up stuck with unused tickets. Go to cash. In and out should be allowed. People do have to work as well as run out of things like propane gas. Looked like more police than spectators. A lot could be learned from the music festival in Havelock Ontario.

    What a great event!

by ESG007 on 2011-08-31Burl's Creek Park - Oro Station

This was a really great event - there was a great line up of acts - Blake Shelton, Ronnie Dunn, Lady Antebellum and of course Rascal Flatts. I couldn't praise the organisers enough for such a smoothly run event - with excellent facilities and for going the extra mile. The fact that there were shuttle buses running from hotels in Barrie was a big advantage for me - but there was onsite camping on offer as well. There was a good presence of security personnel and OPP but it was not oppressive. I hope that this event will become an annual one and if so I will go again.

    Camping

by Tollee on 2011-08-30Burl's Creek Park - Oro Station

The lineup was amazing, but the organization was not good. We waited two hours to get into the camping on the Thursday night. We arrived there at 8:15 pm and got to our campsite at 10:25pm. I was prebooked months in advance. The camping should open a few days ahead to avoid the traffic jam as Havelock does. There was no organization with the camping. I had a 28.5 fifth-wheel, needless to say I did not want a dozen tents sprouled all around us in no order to the point there was no roadway. Again take some pointers from Sarnia Bayfest when you are using an open field as a campground. All tents in one field and trailers in different field, keep them separated. The camping should also be separated between a party field and a more reserved field. I am 48 years old. I was not happy, I had 9 tents with two dozen kids aging 18-24 surrounding me. My truck got hit with a football, at least 4 times. I don't think it was fair that I had to approach the guys to ask them to throw the ball somewhere else. It wasn't like I could move my truck. .

    CMT Festival

by PeteBrenda on 2011-08-30Burl's Creek Park - Oro Station

The venue was awesome, great music, hope to have the same or better quality of signers next year. The regular campsite were OK but not organized at all. We were thrown into a field like cattle. All campsites should be marked somehow with pegs as they do at the Havelock jamboree. The owner of the field monopolized all of the food and all beverages in the music area. The prices of all items were well overpriced. Water $2.00, pop $3.00, beer $6.00. We should be allowed to bring our own beer in coolers onto the music field. There was enough police and security presence that any wrong doing would be taken quietly and fast. Send your staff to Havelock for training as well how a Music fest is run. Use Havelock Jamboree as an excellent example. It is well organized, safe and secure. Everything being sold was well over priced. The vendors were selling their goods at a ridiculous price. I hope next year the planning is better than it was this year. I would only recommend this my friends if it is better organized for campsites, cost of food/any liquids is brought down. Inform people that only can alcohol products are allowed on the premises. Ans let the scouts or charity organizations come and collect and cash all beer/alcohol bottles/cans on the premises. Lets make this a good Music fest that is charitable.

    Awesome

by Tequila123 on 2011-08-30Burl's Creek Park - Oro Station

We had an amazing time!!! The music was awesome, campsite was great, made lots of new friends, laughed my ass off with my old friends...wouldn't change a thing about it and can't wait till next year!!!! We did find it a little disorganized but it was the first year. I paid for a hydro site and didn't get one because they oversold but I could watch the entire show from the site so we didn't care. Good job cmt, see you next year!

    Rascal Flatts Rocked!!!

by 1958Kim on 2011-08-30Burl's Creek Park - Oro Station

Just once before I died, I wanted to get up front of stage at a concert for a band I really liked. I could never afford those kind of seats. Not only did I get my wish I was up close to the center stage for ALL the acts this past weekend. Lady A, Blake Shelton, Ronnie Dunn, Sara Evans, Dean Brody, Colt Ford and of course Rascal Flatts. It was amazing. Oh no......I hope that doesn't mean I'm gonna die now. LOL

    CMT Music festival was superb

by Rainyday53 on 2011-08-30Burl's Creek Park - Oro Station

all the artists were extraordinary. the venue was excellent. The camping was great. More showers for the number in attendance is required. There also needs to be a little more policing to the number of campers/vehicles per site as the campers on the site next to ours were using a lot of our space. They had about 5 vehicles on their site. There was plenty of washroom/port-a-potties and always well looked after. The concert itself was phenominal. Every artist did a tremendous job all singing the favorites in the hour presentation. Thumbs up to the organizers of this great event

by DePe on 2011-08-30Burl's Creek Park - Oro Station

This was an amazing first at Burl's Creek Park and I hope it will be a yearly event. Everything ran smoothly; the lineup of artists was amazing and the shows ran according to schedule. Everything in the park was well set up; food was good and reasonably priced.

    CMT MUSIC FESTIVAL

by Anonymous on 2011-08-30Burl's Creek Park - Oro Station

The entertainment was absolutely wonderful worth buying VIP tickets. The set up was very poor in my eyes. Did not like the idea of having to purchase a pre determined amount of tickets for water food or drink. You could not bring anything into the grounds water included. I tried to purchase 2 tickets for 1 bottle of water and was told that I had to buy 5. Vip tickets boasted of premium food, one vendor only with hot dogs salad and not much more! Coffee was luke warm at its best, not impressed! Security allowed other ticket holders into the vip area where people stood and basically blocked our view so we could have purchased regular tickets and had the same view! We tried for 3 weeks to find out if chairs were supplied for VIP ticket holders, could not find out any info on that. Luckily we put 2 chairs in the vehicle just in case. Met up with people from Quebec who travelled 7 hours to this event only to find out no chairs were supplied!!We were told at the gate that definitely chairs were supplied. We will not attend another function held by CMT we will return to Havelock in future. Again, the entertainment was great took the edge off everything else. Thank you for allowing the comments!

by Katelin on 2011-08-30Burl's Creek Park - Oro Station

The entire weekend was a blast. The food vendors were tasty, the grounds were beautiful and the line-up...Corb Lund, Blake Shelton, Lady Antebellum, Colt Ford, Ronnie Dunn, Dean Brody, Sara Evans, Rascal Flatts, George Canyon - need I say more?? Can't wait for next year!

by SANDRAJO on 2011-08-30Burl's Creek Park - Oro Station

GREAT LINE UP OF SHOWS, BEAUTIFUL WEATHER. VENUE IS WELL SET UP, EXCEPT THERE WERE NO WASHROOMS IN THE ALCOHOL AREA, THAT IS A MUST FOR NEXT YEARS EVENT. OVERALL, WE THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THE WHOLE WEEKEND.

    Rascal Flatts was amazing!!

by familyfun2011 on 2011-08-30Burl's Creek Park - Oro Station

Overall, the event was awesome. Perhaps not so much walking next time?? The stages were very far off the road and when dropped off by the shuttle we had even farther to walk! The shuttle was a great idea, and free to boot!!! That was probably the best news we received once we got to the hotel. Perhaps if the next one is going to be at the same venue, suggesting some closer accommadations? Is Orillia a closer stop to get a hotel? Barrie seems quite far and the shuttle ride was long! I would love to see Rascal Flatts again next year, and Tim Mcgraw would be sweet! Blake Sheldon was amazing too and Lady A.....all the performers were exceptional!

What a shit show!!!!!! lol Had a blast!

by Snowbaby on 2011-08-30Burl's Creek Park - Oro Station

Weekend was great other than not being able to bring folding chairs into beer tent area, when we got to the beer tent one of the grounds men would not let us bring in our chairs yet there were thousands of other guests with them in this area. Even with the support of the police they still refused to let us in. Ridiculous to say the least! I also believe next year individuals should be able to bring their own booze to the event seating like other festivals, not everyone likes Budweiser...

    Awesome experience...definitely going back!

by ACSlater on 2011-08-30Burl's Creek Park - Oro Station

This was a great event! My group only attended the Saturday concerts, but they were amazing. Ronnie Dunn and Rascal Flatts were flawless, but Sara Evans and Dean Brody were surprisingly entertaining and both were incredible vocal performers. I also really enjoyed the Yuk Yuk's comedy tent - some hilarious acts - but not nearly enough seating to support the crowd. The only negative things about the event were not being able to return to your car once you were in the grounds (unless you had a camping pass) and the beer garden restrictions. You weren't allowed to bring your drinks outside of the garden to watch the concerts, but at the same time you weren't allowed to bring your chairs into the beer garden to sit down and have a few drinks. This limited our drinking, and consequent spending, because the restrictions forced us to leave our belongings unattended and were not conducive to the full enjoyment and freedom that we expected to have. Total bummer. Other than that a very good experience. Can't wait to see who they bring in next year, cause we're definitely going back!
