love lies bleeding left nothing needing
Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver
PERFECT--PERFECT--PERFECT. I HAD TO SEE IT TWICE! THE CHOREOGRAPHY WAS SO GORGEOUS AND ATHLETIC AND PERFECTLY SPACED AS FAR AS PLACEMENT ON THE STAGE AS WELL AS INTROS AND EXITS. ALL MOVEMENTS WERE GIVEN CONSIDERATION. NOTHING JARRING AT ALL. IMAGES FROM THE TILTED SCREEN AT THE BACK ADDED SO MUCH AND IT WAS ALWAYS JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF VISUAL ACCOMPANIMENT-UNLIKE "ALICE IN WONDERLAND" LAST YEAR WHICH JUST THREW A BUNCH OF LOUD ANGRY BARBED BARF AT THE AUDIENCE, LOVE LIES BLEEDING WAS ALMOST GENTEEL. THE INTERPRETATION OF ELTON JOHN/BERNIE TAUPINS SONGS WERE SO BEAUTIFUL--EMOTIONAL, FULL BODIED AND FUNNY! AMAZING PERFORMANCES I HOPE THIS COME BACK SOON

Love Lies Bleeding
Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver
The company's virtuosity saved what for the most part was fairly mediocre choreography in the first half. The choreography got more interesting the fewer bodies were on stage and Grand-Maitre could focus more on smaller ensembles. HIs duets were gorgeous. In his defence I have to say that the music and the libretto pretty much dictated the number of bodies on stage. The sets and costumes were faultless. Congratulations to the Alberta Ballet and to Jean Grand-Maitre for a crowd pleaser.

Prognosis favorable for "Love Lies Bleeding"
Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver
The only negative comment to be made about this production is that there were just too few performances. Even those who would normally be dragged kicking and screaming to a ballet left with a new appreciation of what can be accomplished en pointe. Sir Elton -keep it going!!!

Love Lies Bleeding is Sensational!

completely unforgettable! The costumes are out of this world as are the dancers. It was art in motion that brought you to tears. A total must see!

Performers were incredible
Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver
The staging, costumes and choregraphy were unforgettable. The dancers, especially the lead, had an amazing physicality. The music was wonderfully interpreted. Overall the Ballet was the best I've seen and I highly recommend it. Worth every penny!

Thank you, Elton John
Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver
I HIGHLY recommend this ballet. Amazing, Brilliant, Creative, Delightful, Exciting, Fun, Gargantuan, Histrionic, Idealistic... I must say, it’s really not about the music. The choreographer chose some of his lesser known songs, and the ballet story was built around Elton’s descent into drug and alcohol addiction, and how love made him conquer his inner demons. SO, I must say, I repeat, I must say, the dancing was breathtaking. A Japanese dancer was “Elton” and when I first saw him, I thought, oh no, how is he going to do this? HE was AMAZING. The bodies, the strength, the stamina!! MY GOD. Even the homosexual scenes were erotic, and very well performed. REALLY! Joyful, Kinetic, Lovely, Mosaic, Nostalgic, Opera, Perfect, Queenly, Respectful, Sad, Terrific, Unitard, Voracious, Wistful, X-rated Xanadu, Youthful, Zany.

The Nut cracker was good
National Arts Centre - Ottawa
Not the best Nutcracker I have seen. I missed seeing a life size nutcracker throughout the performance. The mice were very real, which wasn't well received by the person I took with me. I liked them. The dance performance was very good and some of the performers excellent. It had been a few years since I last saw it.

Trumpet players were on their blackberries throughout the performance. Found that a little distracting.
