AUTECHRE IN CONCERT:

Progressive electronica madmen Autechre have concocted some of the most eclectic and forward-thinking electronic music of the last two decades. In concert Rob Brown and Sean Booth take audiences on a high-tech sonic journey, manipulating various controllers to create complex, off-kilter beats and glitchy synth melodies. Known for their extensive and exhaustive sets, the electronica masters wow ticket buyers with  genius grooves, crackling techno beats, and bubbling ambient textures. On stage Autechre are sure to rock your body and expand your mind with their genre-defying electronic sounds and unpredictable creative energy.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Rob Brown and Sean Booth have extensive experience with subversive expression, having initially met through Manchester’s graffiti art scene in 1987. Influenced by the burgeoning electro and hip hop underground scene in their hometown, they began creating mixtapes with a few cheap electronic instruments in the late ‘80s. After trying out a number of aliases, the duo landed on Autechre for their ambient-inspired 1993 debut album Incunabula. The group continued experimenting with sounds and textures as part of the growing movement called IDM (Intelligent Dance Music), employing everything from sophisticated rhythmic structures to glitchy synthesizers in their music. By the dawn of the new millennium, Autechre delved deeper into industrial rhythms and downplayed melody almost entirely on the well-received albums Confield (2001) and Draft 7.30 (2003). Though the group continues to push the boundaries of electronic music production in their recorded output, recent albums like Quaristice (2008) and Exai (2013) have embraced a more career-spanning, all-encompassing sound that blends the best elements from every era of electronic music. Accordingly, their marathon live sets cover everything from traditional hip hop and techno to more experimental ambient and glitch sounds, giving everyone something to groove to.
