Simply Beautiful! Fonda Security sucks, though!

by Mags888 on 2009-09-05Henry Fonda Theater - Los Angeles

What can I say. The show was amazing! Natasha Khan moved me to tears . . . She was mesmerizing and bewitched me from her very first note! Good Love was amazing!! Definitely my highlight of the night! You could almost hear a pin drop when she sang it. Everyone was focused on her and her piano. Anyhow, the only beef I have about the show was the venue security. The security team at the Fonda were totally power tripping that night, totally disorganized and just plain unfriendly -- two security guys in particular. However, Miss Khan's beautiful voice made me forget them! If you get a chance to see BFL, go! It's truly an experience, and you won't be disappointed. The drums are louder than the CD; the beats are harder, and Miss Khan was amazing!! Until we meet again, thank you!

    Four People Making Beautiful Noise

by craigh on 2009-08-29Venue - Vancouver

Bat For Lashes put on an excellent show. The eccentric stage adornments only added to a setlist tailormade for a place like Venue (despite the clinking and clanging at the bar during a couple quieter numbers). Natasha Khan was in a great mood and really responded to the enthusiasm of the crowd. I stood rivetted for the entire show (so cool that Charlotte Hatherley is touring with the band!) The arrangements don't stray far from album versions (save a stripped down version of Prescilla), but deliver an unexpected live punch, especially in bass heavy songs like Trophy and uptempo ones like Pearl's Dream. Such a fantastic show. Great sound. Great crowd. Great hoodie!

    Stellar Show

by CrazyTrain on 2009-08-27Venue - Vancouver

This was the first show I've been to at the Venue. The Plaza was always a good venue, so I had high expectations. Everything was amazing. The opening Act, Bat for Lashes, and the venue itslef were all great.

it's like fire coming out of a monkey's head

by beeRI on 2009-08-27Venue - Vancouver

bat for lashes does this first you crowd into that little room and wait while you look at all the statues and wolves on stage. the lights go out and see comes on with three other people; a drummer, a synth player, and guitarist'bassist/(plays more instruments...). the drummer starts the backing tracks on the macbook cleverly hidden behind two christmas angels and natasha starts singing. it's so dead on to the recording you start to think she's karaoking to her music and then you realize she has a perfect voice. then you melt into the music.

    Beautiful!

by PamN on 2009-08-27Venue - Vancouver

I saw BFL open for Radiohead in London and that alone was an amazing show, but seeing BFL perform in a more intimate setting was great. Natasha is gorgeous, and she is so adorable. The crowd was a little quiet, but it was a really good atmosphere. Lots of songs from Two Suns were played...I would have loved more Fur & Gold, BUT...amazing anyway. Her voice, their sounds...it doesn't change. It's all 100% talent!

    Beautiful, sultry and mesmerizing

by drea on 2009-08-26Venue - Vancouver

Natasha Khan's stage presence is characterized by her fluid sways melting into rhythmic bumps, her crimped skirt sashaying about as her long jet-black hair floats to and fro. She is beautiful, sultry, and mesmerizing, and her soft voice encompasses all those descriptions as she moves from piano ballads to jangly compositions backed by boomy percussion. Bat For Lashes was an incredible performance, set to a giant backdrop of a wolf howling at a full moon. Lights were flashing cabaret style and the acoustics were fantastic. I was impressed with how easily Khan's vocal range slid into extremes and felt tingles run up and down my spine with each breathy sigh and melodic murmur. Each song was played with romance and gusto, if you can imagine the two together, and it was a fantastic show through and through. Bravo.

    Batty for Bat for Lashes

by ediblemmm on 2009-08-26Venue - Vancouver

The WOW factor of the lead vocals makes this a must see! The set bounces between the beat driven songs everyone can love and slow ballads that some might find a little sleepy. The entire talented band is a mesh of eclectic talents creating atmospheric backdrops for intense perfect-pitch powerful satiny vocals often driven by a primal drum. Go early and grab a chair for the 2 slower numbers mixed in between bouncier beats if you can... or wear comfy shoes. Loved it!

    Bat for Lashes was amazing!

    by tiger73 on 2009-08-26Venue - Vancouver

I saw Bat for Lashes perform at Venue last night & it was a truly beautiful show! The sound of her voice was crystal clear and hypnotic. Her band was rock solid and constantly switched from instrument to instrument throughout the show. Venue (the old Plaza) is a great place to see a show! I am so glad I got to see her in such a small intimate venue. Bat for lashes rocked!
