Great Performers, Too much Techno
by ab on 2019-10-16Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5Bon Iver is a great band. The first two albums are amazing, some of the best songs I've ever heard. The third album is weird and a huge style change. I didn't like how they only played Lump Sum, Skinny Love, Holocene and Perth. Those were all done incredibly, but only 4 songs from the first two albums to me was a huge let down. There were some other songs they played that were great but honestly not enough. Their setup on stage was also really weird they were each in their own triangle that lit up and everything else was dark and it took a long time for me to figure out who was who from where I was sitting which obviously wasn't a good seat. The last thing which I found extremely annoying was the length between the opening act and when Bon Iver came on stage. It must have been half an hour and this stupid video of a guy shooting hoops repeatedly played while this delay to set up the elaborate triangles happened. Anyways, For Emma and Bon Iver will always be two of my favourite albums but I wouldn't go and see them live again.
