What a great experience for the girls in my family. I loved that it was kid friendly and planned around mother's day.
I brought my teen daughter and her dance group to see Cinderella and Alberta Ballet did not disappoint. The girls loved every minute of it and I loved the pure joy on their faces!
This was a lovely whimsical performance with lots of amusing silly fun and creativity. I loved the scene changes, the set designs were very effective in moving from one act to the next. The horses and carriage were particularly ingenious. It was a great afternoon performance I would love to see again❤
Honestly, it was a disappointment. So much more could have been done with this story line. We felt there was no engagement with the characters and no climax. Everyone in our party did have positive comments about the set design and the great horses! The step sisters were like watching a bad episode of drag race. Not good. \
Was very nice, but not our top experience of the year.
Enjoyed to the max. Made a terrific 1st time experience
Honestly my 5 year old and I didn’t get to go she got sick the day of:( I wasn’t able to sell my tickets the day of on the app that might be a rule but I’m not 100% sure. We spent the evening in her little Cinderella outfit and made the best of the evening watching the movie. Really looking forward to when it comes back and trying again.
I especially loved the horses and the carriage but I have to ask if there are creators out there that can make new and inspiring ballets more relevant to what is happening now.
Lately i have really enjoyed a modern influence in ballet. While Cinderella was beautiful it could have been improved with some modern flavors. It was repetitive and could have been spectacular with some spice.
Alberta Ballet’s Cinderella was a beautiful performance that was captivating from start to finish. The intricate backdrops were particularly stunning, and gave the impression of an old fashioned fairytale story book. Though there were a few slips and missed coordinations among the dancers, the ballet was nonetheless magical and entertaining. I only have two regrets from the evening. One is that the orchestration was entirely recorded, and I know the ballet would have had a much higher-class feel to it if there was live music. The second is the high risk of contracting COVID-19 from the lack of masks being worn by the vast majority of the patrons. Overall, truly a lovely ballet that made me reminisce the children’s stories I adore, and could have had an even stronger edge with the addition of a live orchestra.
