Since 1976, George Thorogood & The Destroyers have sold over 15 million albums, played more than 8,000 ferocious live shows, and built a catalog of classic hits that includes "Get A Haircut", "I Drink Alone", "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer", "Move It On Over" and the definitive badass anthem "Bad To The Bone". Now "one of the most iconic bands in rock & roll history" (Rapid City Journal) celebrates it all with their Good To Be Bad Tour: 45 Years Of Rock.
It's on tour that George & band flip the switch nightly, delivering what The Toledo Blade calls a "gut-bustin', guitar-wailin', face-meltin', take-no-prisoners, good old-fashioned lunch bucket rock-and-roll show". The Sacramento Bee says, "The Destroyers remain as they have been for years Jeff Simon on percussion, Bill Blough on bass, Jim Suhler on guitar, and Buddy Leach on saxophone. They are without doubt one of the best touring bands in blues-rock history." Or as Rolling Stone once raved, "George Thorogood & The Destroyers play rock & roll hot enough to melt the polar icecaps and flood the world's major population centers."
first time to see him... they did a great job playing the classics
George Thorogood still puts on an amazing show, he's an all around entertainer, and as good live as he was 10 years ago. I would not recommend the Avalon Ballroom as a venue. The crowd is dead, quite old (expected older, but not elderly, we were by far the youngest people we saw and we're 28/30). Nobody stood, nobody seemed to be having a good time. We left our seats to stand at the back to stand up and move around a bit without blocking people. Note: You cannot have any beverages in the Avalon Ballroom.
Show was awesome. George's skills on the guitar are incredible, his energy level is amazing, and he rocked the night. The Destroyers were great, including exceptional talent on the sax ! Don't miss this show. Rock On George!!
What a great show, George still rocks...very entertaining.
Really enjoyed the show! George Thorogood awesome !
Show was awesome. But security lack big time. A large group of 12 guy invaded the section we were sitting. Smoked weed during the show, drunk as hell and very loud and disrespectful. Kind of hurt the experience for the entire section. Can't believe no security in that section. Plenty when you exit the section but inside, none.
George Thorogood puts on an amazing concert. It was the best concert I've ever attended. I hope he comes back to Ottawa as I would want front row center seating.
George always puts on a great show. The atmosphere was good.
Resisting the temptation to say that George was thoroughly good, I have to say that he was completely great. Over the years he has developed a masterly stage presence and a masterful command of his guitar. He channels poignant emotions, enthusiastic rock or even more enthusiastic rock. The man never quits. He provides a better, more nuanced, more intelligent set than the current crop of arena rockers, yet has better songs, better hooks, and better guitar licks. May he continue to bless us with his trips through our lives!
Wow I was in San Diego from Toronto on business and managed to catch the show. Not only were both artists terrific ... the venue was fabulous as well. Everyone had a great time. The environment is relaxed and is a major part of the show. Having seen George in the past ... I must say he just gets better. The new album is one of his best ever and the inspired performance made it it extra special. This was my first time seeing Kenny Wayne Shepherd and having been a long time listener, found his set to be fabulous as well. If you haven't had a chance to see this band ... do so. There may not be a better guitarist in this genre in the world at the moment. Also Kenny ... glad you have Noah back ... keep him ... love that voice!
