    TSO was amazing!

I love the Harry Potter series but to see it with the live music is out of this world.

Too many obnoxiously loud Potter fans.

by LuckyLindy on 2017-07-24Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Go ahead and dress up as your favorite character. Dress in your house colors. Bring your wand. I really don't care but my husband and I spent good money on the tickets to also hear the symphony. Not have it drowned out by people cheering for their favorite characters. Every new character on screen was met with extremely loud cheers, whistles and hooting. It really ruined the experience. The sad thing is, it was at the conductors request that they do this. I get that you want to make an inclusive, fun environment and hopefully get the younger generation, or even still, my generation, to appreciate the symphony. The loud Potter fans were really disrespectful to the symphony. And I'm mostly just disappointed that the conductor ok'd this. That's kind of a slap in the face to your entire team. That you don't care if their hard work is listened to. I would recommend this still because the symphony is so on par with the movie is creates this amazing wholeness. You really feel like you are transported there and so in the moment.

    Amazing!

by Gandolf on 2017-07-10Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

The orchestra sounded incredible and the mix with the movie was perfect. Would love to come back for more! I love the crowd energy and fun energy the orchestra/conductor encourages the audience to engage in. Thank you!

Would have been better without the movie playing!

by KB91 on 2017-07-10Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

I was actually so disappointed in this event that I left during the intermission - the first time in my life I have ever walked out of a performance. It felt like neither the music or film audio was loud enough - especially with the audience screaming at nearly every moment of the movie. I think this event is best suited for hardcore Harry Potter fans. I would have enjoyed it more without the movie playing - the music is wonderful but the audience and movie in the background took away from the experience of hearing the music loud.

Very cool way to experience watching the movie! The orchestra was perfect. Funny to have the crowd engaged and cheering when new characters came on screen. Also nice to be able to bring food and drink inside the theatre.

The Harry Potter Score is Always Magical

by Roanna on 2017-07-04Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Watching Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone on the big screen was, of course, a magical experience. The TSO did an incredible job of bringing the iconic score to life - they blended seamlessly with the movie so that at times I forgot all about the live musicians. On the one hand, it was impressive that they were so fully integrated; on the other hand, it felt unfair that we weren't paying attention to them after all their hard work! The audience was encouraged to shout and exclaim during the movie, so if you prefer watching Harry's adventures quietly, you might find the chatter annoying. I'm not sure if I got anything new from this experience, but it was a nice way to celebrate the Boy Who Lived.
