BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Ian McLagan was born in Hounslow, England and took up the piano as a teenager. He started playing in bands in the ‘60s, first with The Muleskinners and then with The Boz People. In 1965 he was recruited to mod rock collective Small Faces, which was renamed Faces in 1969 after Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood joined. After Faces disbanded in 1975 McLagan focused on his solo career, releasing his debut album Troublemaker in 1979 and following up in 1980 with Bump In The Night. Over the next two decades he was a sought after session keyboardist, working with revered musicians including Chuck Berry, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Joe Cocker, Jackson Browne, and The Rolling Stones. In 1994 he moved to Austin, TX, where he became a fixture of the city's renowned music scene. He released six solo albums between 2004-2014, including 2009's critically acclaimed Never Say Never and 2014's United States, which boasts mixing by Glyn Johns (The Faces, The Who) and mastering by Bob Ludwig (Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones). McLagan was inducted into the Texas Music Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Faces and Small Faces in 2012.
