Kevin Patrick Smith is an American filmmaker, actor, comedian, comic book writer, author, YouTuber, and podcaster. He came to prominence with the low-budget comedy buddy film Clerks (1994), which he wrote, directed, co-produced, and acted in as the character Silent Bob of stoner duo Jay and Silent Bob. Clerks won the "Award of the Youth" and the "Mercedes-Benz Award" at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival, the "Filmmakers Trophy" at the Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for three Independent Spirit Awards (Best First Feature, Best First Screenplay and Jeff Anderson for Best Debut Performance).
The film Jay and Silent Bob also appeared in Smith's later films Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks II and Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, which are set primarily in his home state of New Jersey. While not strictly sequential, the films have crossover plot elements, character references, and a shared canon known as the "View Askewniverse", named after Smith's production company View Askew Productions, which he co-founded with Scott Mosier.
Since 2011, Smith has mostly made horror films, including Red State (2011) and the "comedy horror films" Tusk (2014) and Yoga Hosers (2016), two in a planned series of three such films set in Canada dubbed the True North trilogy.
Last year, Smith executive produced Masters of the Universe: Revelation for Netflix and coming later this year, Smith will release the much anticipated Clerks III via Lionsgate.
Smith owns Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash in Red Bank, New Jersey, a comic bookstore which became the setting for the reality television show Comic Book Men (2012-2018). As a podcaster, Smith co-hosts several shows on his SModcast Podcast Network, including SModcast, Fatman Beyond, and the live show Hollywood Babble-On. He is known for /participating in long, humorous Q&A sessions that are often filmed for DVD release, beginning with An Evening with Kevin Smith.

Brought tickets, didn't know it wasn't all kevin smith documentary was interesting but had to wait for main star to appear
the last thing we experienced before we entered the theatre was being asked for change. We were barely 2 steps out of the theatre when leaving, and someone's bothering us for change. I understand the theatre is not responsible for what happens walking to or from our car, but a better job needs to be done right in front of the theatre. It's stuff like this, the feeling of personal safety, that will potentially discourage myself, and possibly others from attending events.
Had a great time - learning about how big Phantom of Paradise was (as it was before my time, but I’ve heard of it!) and then getting to meet Kevin Smith was a great bonus!
Mr Smith, he did NOT disappoint. He was energetic, comical. He CLEARLY illustrated why he is such a Great Orator and Fanatastic Raconteur. Hell, he made Tear up when he was talking about the found working footage of Clerks from 30 years. DEFINITELY shell out $ to go to Another Q&A of his AND ask him another Question. His performance on Friday, November 1, reinforced why I have been a fan for nearly 25 years. A Shout to Monsieur Malcolm Ingram. Thank you hosting the Event AND also making Mr Smith finish at 11 pm. Your work and efforts, Much appreciated
I've been a Kevin Smith fan for a long time. I've listened to several of his podcasts; some of them I continue to enjoy, while others have fallen by the wayside. I had purchased a ticket to the initial Hollywood Babble-on show back in June or July before it was cancelled by the artists for personal reasons. I was incredibly excited to get another opportunity to see these guys live. The show was great. It wasn't amazing, but it delivered exactly what most people would expect. If you've ever listened to the HBO podcast then you know what to expect; most of the shows follow a familiar structure. I was actually surprised by how similar this show was to the regular podcasts, though I don't know why I was surprised. Anyway, part of me wishes that there was some sort of extra that only the live audience got to enjoy. More videos; some of Ralph's comedy; a Q&A with Kevin Smith, or; perhaps an opportunity to get some photos or autographs. I realize that's not always feasible, of course. However, having enjoyed the experience once, I don't think I'll bother with a second show should I ever have the chance. $80 for what is essentially a live version of what I hear on my iPod? Once was enough...
Kevin Smith and Ralph Garmin put on an awesome show. It was halarious and it was entertaining, I didn't want it to end. I will never miss a Kevin Smith show in Calgary ever again.
Best comedy show! Always a good laugh with these two!
The Show was ok. A couple of funny spots and its great to see Kevin looking healthy and loving life. Really not a whole lot of unique content though. A basic podcast format with half of it being news that you could find on any entertainment website in five minutes which is silly. Too much fan based letters and requests as well. Between the news bits and the fan bits there was almost no unique content and very little for Kevin and Ralph to do which is pretty lazy. worst part is the tickets were like $80 and a beer was 8+ which is a total rip off for what it was. There are plenty of real comedians that come to Vancouver so save your money for them as they bring original content that is actually funny. This show seemed more like a cash grab.
Was a great evening. Wonderful to see Kevin alive and in person. Wished it could have last longer.
