About

ABOUT PORTUGAL THE MAN:

Over the past decade, Portugal The Man has established themselves as one of rock's most prized possessions and a live phenomenon, with over 1,600 shows under their belts and a storied reputation as festival favorites.

Originally heralding from Alaska, the Portland-based band - comprised of John Gourley, Zach Carothers, Kyle O'Quin, Eric Howk, Jason Sechrist and Zoe Manville - soared to new heights in 2017 with the release of their RIAA certified-gold album, Woodstock. The album was marked by the astounding success of their infectious single, "Feel It Still," which earned the group a plethora of new accolades - including a GRAMMY award for "Best Pop Duo/Group Performance," a 6x RIAA platinum certified single certification, a mind-blowing 20-week residency at #1 on alternative radio, and an inescapable presence on the Top 40 airwaves.Alongside the shine of their myriad musical accomplishments lies the group's long-standing passion for social justice. In fact, this is precisely the intersection on which Portugal The Man thrives; throughout their career, the band has consistently exemplified how to deeply commit to both artistry and activism. This dynamic inspired them to officially launch their PTM Foundation in 2020, focused on universal issues related to human rights, community health, and the environment, with an emphasis on causes directly impacting Indigenous Peoples.

Their continued passion for activism has also led to recent partnerships with organizations such as the National Coalition Against Censorship, The Skatepark Project (helping communities build public skate parks for youth in underserved communities), March for Our Lives (Gun Reform), Keep Oregon Well (Mental Health), and Protect Our Winters (Climate Change), to name just a few.

    Good but really imbalanced

by NN on 2023-11-24London Music Hall - LONDON

Love the band, but there was *way* too much bass and drums, making the vocals and treble guitar really muffled and difficult to hear. Coulda been a better concert for sure but I still enjoyed it a lot

    by Louis-Philippe on 2023-11-22

i saw them 4 time and i love the way the show change ! great performance, no communication with the audience meaning more time with the music. Its a great experience if you like their music, they always play their big hit.

    Really good band

by Drville on 2023-11-22MTELUS - Montreal

I enjoyed their last show in Montreal. I knew most of their songs. The lighting on stage was great. Unfortunately the sound was bad. The sound of the base was overwhelming the other instruments and voices

Love the band but I could barely hear their voices. No, that’s not the sound I was expecting for…

    In Ottawa at last!

    by Wero_613 on 2023-11-22Bronson Centre - Ottawa

Such an amazing show! They're so great live. They blasted through almost an hour and 45 minutes of their hits, one after the other, no breaks and no talking, just all the music! The opener was pretty good too. I'd never heard of Good Kid before, but they reminded me of the early 2000s, end of high school kind of style if music. Pretty good opening band to get everyone hyped up, gave lots of energy, good vibes and they all had great hair. 😀 First time seeing a show at the Bronson Center in Ottawa, and I didn't know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. The sound was good, the stage area wasn't huge but general admission meant you can choose where you want to go in the crowd. Coat check and the line to get in were extremely efficient. 10/10 for the performance and the venue

    Worst concert

by Mikayla on 2023-11-21Bronson Centre - Ottawa

Unfortunately this was the worst concert experience I've had. The sound quality was absolutely terrible! The venue for this concert was changed shortly after I purchased tickets and I think the sound quality would have been okay if they had been in a larger venue, but the sound engineers had not changed the mixing to suit the size of the Bronson Centre, which resulted in very loud instrument sound and inaudible vocals. It sounded muddy to say the least. We moved to different areas of the venue to see if the sound would be better, but it wasn't. Myself and my husband left early and my husband was incredibly disappointed as it was one of his bucketlist bands. Portugal. The Man didn't exactly put on much of a performance either, basically just standing still. We were so confused how we had seen so many other concerts at that venue that had crystal clear sound and incredible performances. After we saw the reddit thread on the Ottawa subreddit, we knew we weren't alone in our disappointment for this concert experience.

    The sound :(

Set list was ok, i guess. But the sound was horrible. We simply couldn't hear the vocals. Dissapointing a bit.

    Phenomenal Experience

by OntarioCoal on 2023-11-20History - Toronto

I’ve gone my whole life Hearing PTM on the radio and on Spotify but never have I felt more connected and more moved by their music then when I saw them live at the History centre in Toronto on nov 16th. My friend passed before he could go to the show with me. Being there made him feel alive in my heart and soul again. Thank you

    Portugal the man

by Christopher on 2023-11-19History - Toronto

I tried to find someone after the show to give more money to. I enjoyed them more than I paid for the tickets. Excellent Venu, great night. Cost of a beer is ridiculous but hey I think we all know that.
