Fantastic atmosphere and very helpful staff. Event was very well organized and guests were treated with great respect.
It is exciting to watch horses run Other activities are fun too You buy reserved tickets but you will see someone sitting on your seat. The sections are labeled but not in order and it is confusing.
Weather and cancelation of half card dampened things slightly
Awesome-weather notwithstanding! The whole experience was like being in a dream. Met every expectation.
I have gone to the Queen' s Plate a few times and always had a great experience. This time at the King's Plate it was complete chaos, maybe because it's the King & not the Queen, after all women are much more organized, lol. Staff had no idea where things were or what to do. You asked and they just looked at you dumbfounded and sent you to ask someone else who knew even less. It was frustrating, at food stand the cashier took more than 15 min to process a simple order. We had 2 people in front if us & waited 40min for our order to only find out from an employee that they were new hires & got no training. He was trying to apologize for the delay when really it wasn't his fault. Who puts new hires with no training working on such a day? It's understandable that the races were canceled due to the thunderstorms but why not cancel when the storm started rather than delaying race on & on, make everyone wait for over 2 hours to only send them home when the weather was lifting & stayed beautiful. Disorganized, disorganized & disorganized....that's how I see it, maybe a woman should have been in charge.
It seemed like the debit machines could not keep up with the amount of people in attendance. Extremely slow service due to this. Waited 15 minutes just to pay for drinks at the bar, after already receiving the drinks. Was not offered any discount or genuine apology.
to say we were disappointed is an understatement, with traffic delays due to the weather on highway 401 we didn't get to Woodbine until the end of Race 5 so we never saw one race at all. I'm glad Woodbine cancelled the rest for safety of everyone, but it would have been much nicer to cancel it before we spent 3 hours in the car getting there. And then to reschedule on a Friday when I'm working, there's just no way I can take the time off and drive all that way again.
I paid for the stand stand tickets and now they are free on Friday poorly run.
The racing itself was fabulous to watch. The staff working required better training. Parking attendants couldn’t answer basic questions, people working the door couldn’t answer basic questions, valet was very disorganized. The non-restaurant food options are quite gross. The event was cancelled and rescheduled due to rain and I have no idea how to go because my ticket shows as expired. What about people who can’t go on the reschedule date? What is their recourse? Woodbine Racetrack can do better.
From slow bar service to long waits for valet service this was the worst public event I've ever been at. I have attended at least 20 Queens Plate races and am an avid horse goer but I will never go to another event at Woodbine. Get rid of your union employees on the bar. They are so slow and inefficient.
