Great show - not a great venue

by PMJ Fan on 2021-11-09The Centre in Vancouver - Vancouver

PMJ was amazing, as they always are. They never fail to go above & beyond to provide a great performance for their fans. Every single person on the stage was beyond talented! They provided a night to remember for every person in the audience. We've seen them every time they have come to Vancouver, and can't wait for next time already! The venue itself was a whole other story. The Centre for Performing Arts is a dreadfully designed venue. The sound is always poor there - muddy, muted and just plain awful. This show was no exception - not the fault of their sound crew. It's just a poorly designed venue from an acoustic standpoint. The PMJ cast did their very best to work with the poor acoustics. Crowd control at the show was appallingly bad. The doors to the building opened 20 minutes later than advertised, and then the bottleneck began with crowds bunched together as the mobile ticket and vax card/ID checks slowed everything to a crawl immediately. Once guests were inside the building, the event staff would not allow anyone to enter the seating area. Instead, hundreds of guests were crowded together shoulder to shoulder standing in the foyers on each level while the doors to the seating remained closed. They finally opened those doors 20 minutes before the scheduled start - leading to masses of people bunched together trying to find their seats, with almost no ushers around to help. People were pushing, bumping and fumbling around in the search to find their seats. In no way was this safe or appropriate while we are still in the middle of a COVID pandemic. It was unnecessary and avoidable, had the venue staff allowed people to go to their seats immediately after entering the venue. That would have spaced out the number of guests rather than crowding them all together. The show started late - no doubt due to the fact that people were still trying to find seats past the published start time. The venue operators and promoters need to do MUCH better if they are going to host any other events there. This event was poorly handled from that standpoint, and as a result placed all the attendees at risk. Not acceptable by any stretch of the imagination.

    Exceeded Expectations

by David M on 2021-11-09The Centre in Vancouver - Vancouver

I was expecting good music, I had seen them play on YouTube. I wasn't expecting to be moved by the energy, intimacy and engaging enthusiasm of both audience and performers alike. Performances like this are why live music exists, and will hopefully always exist.

    Not what I hoped for

by PJ First Timer on 2021-11-09The Centre in Vancouver - Vancouver

My experience with PJ has been You Tube/Facebook etc. I was looking forward to great singing with close harmonies. Instead, it was more like a very loud Burlesque show. The soloists were at times, screaming. I enjoyed it, but quite disappointed. I was also very annoyed that many many late comers delayed the start, and we’re even allowed to blindly wander down the aisle even up until 1/2 hour after start. Ridiculous!

    Better than expected

by Newbie on 2021-11-09The Centre in Vancouver - Vancouver

This was my first PMJ experience, all I can say is I’m hooked!! The entire show was fast paced and very entertaining! It at times it was like a vaudeville show! The voices on the the cast, simply amazing!! I have never witnessed a singer dance, play a trombone and tap dance !! Best wishes to the newly wed signer and guitarist It’s a really entertaining evening from the show to people watching 😉

PMJ delivers us from the shutdown

by GuidoD on 2021-11-09The Centre in Vancouver - Vancouver

The show was amazing. This was my third time seeing them so I knew what to expect though. PMJ are just so polished as performers. I was apprehensive about Covid protocols but everything actually went so smoothly it seemed as though we got into the venue at the same speed as always. Kudos to the staff at the Centre for their professionalism as well.

    Great!!

by Kmoo on 2021-11-09The Centre in Vancouver - Vancouver

This is the second time I’ve went to a Postmodern Jukebox concert and it didn’t disappoint! I’d say the only thing that wasn’t totally amazing was the venue. With everyone kinda stuck at their seats there wasn’t any opportunities to dance and sway to the music. The last time it was a much better venue and we were standing so we could dance. I love love love the tap dancing! And was so impressed with the pipes on the gentleman’s voice in the group! There was one song that he sang that brought me to tears! But don’t get me wrong they all sounded amazing! One of the performers plays every single instrument it seems, and sometimes even 3 of them at one time! We were entertained the whole show! Highly recommend!

Live music in the age of covid

    by J. T. on 2021-11-08River Cree Resort & Casino - Enoch

We've seen PMJ twice before. Both times it was a brilliant experience, the energy, the music, the costumes, all of it. This was no different, except one critical piece.... this is clearly a stripped-down show designed to simply drive revenue. It's understandable, Scott hasn't seen a dime from touring for a year and half. He needs to get some shows going and get the dollars rolling in again, he's got a payroll to make. If you'd never been to a PMJ show, you might not notice how small the touring group is and the limitations that brings. If you have, then it's glaring. It's half the show(s) I've seen before. I want to repeat, the music and the performances were spectacular, it's exactly what you'd expect from PMJ. Just smaller. And maybe a bit shorter.

    Fantastic concert!

by John Lawrence on 2021-11-08River Cree Resort & Casino - Enoch

Other than the venue being a little loud (only hard surfaces for sound to reflect upon), it was a fantastic concert with lots of energy and great arrangements/covers.

    A biological change!

by Mangocassidy on 2021-11-08River Cree Resort & Casino - Enoch

I felt passionately alive for the first time in 2years. The music reverberated through my body and changed me at a cellular level… revitalizing my physical body as well as my soul. This was arguably one of the best audible experiences of my life and was paired with such a fun visible experience that I felt certain I’d never been more soulfully joyful in my life. Scott Bradley’s Post Modern Jukebox is a performance every human would enjoy at any time, but this show came at the very best time… to allow us to reprioritize passion and joy, through their art, for a complete rewiring of the mind towards positivity and self-healing. Thank-you for reminding us as a audience that we are alive! That we can feel passion! That there is intense joy we are capable of feeling and giving us a space to let it bubble to the surface and explode like beautiful fireworks!

This band is true talent, mind boggling and breath taking. Amazing compositions of well known songs. Excellent dynamics between all members of the team. I have been ranting and raving for days now about this experience. Literally left me speechless! I will definately go again and recommend to all my friends! Thank you so much for an amazing night!
