When she was 14, Tori Kelly started writing songs in the bedroom of her Southern California home. Within years she began sharing those songs online, and quickly won over Internet audiences with her sweetly soaring vocals, graceful guitar-playing, and knack for blending breezy melodies with boldly heart-on-sleeve lyrics. With her YouTube channel boasting more than 55 million views and almost 700,000 subscribers, the 20-year-old singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist is now at work on her debut album— a passionate pairing of soul and pop that reflects both her lifelong devotion to music and uncommon authenticity as an artist.
A musical purist who began singing at age three and learned to play drums and guitar by the time she was 16, Kelly wrote, produced, mixed, and self-released an EP titled Handmade Songs By Tori Kelly in May 2012—then saw the EP debut at #6 on Soundscan’s New Artist chart and at #9 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. Earlier that same year, Kelly’s online popularity skyrocketed when a YouTube video of her stripped-down, goosebump-inducing rendition of Frank Ocean’s “Thinkin Bout You” went viral, and to date has garnered over 17 million views.
With the end of 2013 comes the release of Tori’s EP ‘Foreword’ which debuted at #16 on the Top 200 with over 16,000 units sold in the first week. She capped off the week performing lead single and iTunes single of the week, ‘Dear No One’ on the Ellen DeGeneres show.
For her debut album, Kelly is back in the studio working to elevate her artistry while delivering honest, emotionally charged music that resonates with those who’ve supported her musical journey over the years. “I’m always very real in my songwriting—I’m not trying to put on a mask or hide behind any kind of gimmick,” says Kelly, who lists artists as eclectic as Lauren Hill, Jill Scott, Jeff Buckley, and Maxwell as key inspirations. “No matter what I’m going to do my own thing. So when people tell me that they relate to my songs, or that something I’ve written really connects with them, that’s just the best feeling in the world.”

You read that right. Even tho BCT is an older building Tori’s voice carried throughout the whole theatre. I sat in the nosebleeds. It was intimate and sweet. It got very hot at one moment but it cooled down quickly.
Watching Tori Kelly on stage was by far one of the best concerts I’ve been to. Her vocals are just amazing and I’m sure it blew everyone away that night! Overall, she’s a great performer. I would love to watch her again in the near future!
Highly recommend seeing Tori Kelly live. What an incredible show. I really liked the smaller venue at the Axis. Such a cool and fun down to earth person. Unbelievable vocals and a very fun evening with Tori Kelly. Great experience.
The concert was good, Tori was fantastic. Her lighting was phenomenal and really added to the show atmosphere. There were a couple aspects that I did not enjoy. It was a bit annoying that the concert started over an hour after it was supposed to and since it’s GA, to get a good spot you end up having to be in line so early that you end up less energized for the show. Also, the show was quite short. I could have guessed that it would be considering venue and cost but I would have liked a show longer than an hour.
I’ve been following Tori for a really long time and she never disappoints! She’s so underrated and deserves the flowers! All of the flowers. Love Tori and will be a fan forever!!!
She did an amazing job but she said her goodbyes after less than an hour of performing and there was no encore. This was most likely due to her health complication a mont or two back but we should have been informed this was a shorter concert.
Tori did not disappoint, she was awesome and I would see her again !
Tori was amazing!! Her talent is no joke and her vocals are unbelievable! She is so genuine and sincere on stage. She talks to the crowd and is seriously loving and enjoying the moment she has on stage.
She was amazing. I really enjoyed her. I look forward to new music by her. I hope that she comes back to Massey Hall / Toronto.
