    Heartfelt Laughter

by Roe on 2020-01-08National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

This was an absolutely wonderful show, the singing was so very good, the songs themselves all tell parts of the story and are entertaining to listen to, not to mention masterfully written! Sara B is brilliant! The actors themselves really took on their roles and made the show fantastic, they were having fun so we all had fun, because our seats were second row/centre it was very awesome to see their facial expressions and feel the energy from the stage. Waitress takes you through all sorts of emotions, but the one that shines the most is love and laughter.

    show was really good, venue

by Linda on 2020-01-08National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

The show was excellent There was a very strong perfume smell. I am unsure if it was from an individual or if the theater has an air freshener. If it is an air freshener-please be aware that some people are very sensitive to certain perfumes. The scent gave me a headache. Thanks

    Waitress in Ottawa disappointing.

by El on 2020-01-07National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Given the cost of tickets for such performances, we were disappointed by the Broadway Across Canada production of Waitress in Ottawa. The sound quality, whether the responsibility of the touring group or of the NAC, was poor to the point that most of the song lyrics were not intelligible. The same sound quality also affected the back-up musicians, rendering this music at varying times quiet to the point of barely heard, or harshly loud and grating. While the acting was very good across the full ensemble of the cast, the voice of the female lead was not always up to the task; while good, it was not strong and true enough to fully deliver. Overall, a disappointment.

My face hurt from all the smiling and laughter

by T. D. on 2020-01-06National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Incredible stage production and choreography with great chemistry between the leads. Love the theme of believing in yourself. A message that can’t be endorsed enough these days. I would like several orders of “Waitress” to go please!

    A very fun evening

by Lexy on 2020-01-04National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

The introduction could use some improvement, but otherwise actors and singers were great for the most part. Some voices were beautiful but we could not make out the words that they were singing. The most unfortunate part was the music script which leaves the singers with tunes that are dull and not memorable. Overall, an evening of fun with satire and innuendos.

    A funnier side to infidelity

by Sezjeuric on 2019-12-04Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

My boyfriend and I enjoyed Waitress! I was familiar with the musical numbers beforehand and the performers did Sara Bareilles justice! It was my boyfriend's first musical experience and he enjoyed it more than he anticipated. We were both laughing more than we had expected! The 2nd half of the play doesn't move as quick as the first, but She Used To Be Mine makes up for that. A bit of raunchy humour/language for us adults ;)
