ABBATH IN CONCERT:

Abbath Doom Occulta forged a legacy of hell-raising during his 25-year stint with black metal masters Immortal, and fans of that band will be glad to know he brings the same diabolical charisma to the stage with his new group ABBATH. The talented frontman is an intense presence in concert, doling out rapid-fire riffs and growling his sinister vocals while he stalks the stage in his trademark black and white demon makeup. And thanks to a powerhouse backing band that adds six-string shred, pummeling kick drums, and thunderous bass runs to the mayhem, fans really feel every blistering passage of favorites like "Ashes of the Damned," "Winter Bane," and "Count the Dead." ABBATH continues to build on the legend of its magnetic frontman, and ticket buyers are still lining up for the chance to worship at his feet.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Bergen, Norway native Abbath Doom Occulta (aka Olve Eikemo) developed an early obsession with face paint and powerful riffs thanks to Kiss, his favorite band when he was a kid. By the time he was a teenager in the late '80s he was putting his versatile skill set (which included vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass, and drums) to use in the bands Old Funeral and Amputation. Two years later Eikemo cherry-picked the best members of those two groups to form Immortal, which became one of the most celebrated acts of the Norwegian black metal movement. After more than two decades of headlining tours and genre-defining releases like Battles in the North (1995) and All Shall Fall (2009), a lengthy legal battle over the band's trademark convinced him to leave the group in 2015. Later that year he joined forces with former members of God Seed and Sepultura and launched his solo project ABBATH, which thrilled fans with a debut performance at the Tuska Open Air Metal Festival. A self-titled album followed in 2016, giving fans a taste of the black metal carnage they can expect from ABBATH in concert.
