Above & Beyond in Concert
Above & Beyond, or Jono, Tony and Paavo as they are better known to their legions of fans around the world, have been at the forefront of electronic dance music for two decades.
Founders of the iconic Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep record labels and hosts of a weekly radio show, that reaches millions of dance lovers every Friday (Group Therapy), the trio have earned two GRAMMY™️nominations for anthems 'Northern Soul' feat. Richard Bedford and We're All We Need feat. Zoë Johnston. In 2018, the band's fourth electronic album, Common Ground, debuted at number three on the Official Billboard Album Chart.
Described by UK music bible Q Magazine as "the world's biggest cult band", Above & Beyond's enviable list of sold out shows includes headline performances at historic venues like Madison Square Garden NYC, The Hollywood Bowl, The Sydney Opera House, Royal Albert Hall London, Red Rocks Amphitheater and record-breaking turnouts for their own festival events on LA's Huntington Beach and at The Gorge Amphitheater in Washington State.
Songwriters first, producers second, Above & Beyond's unwavering commitment to their craft has fuelled a career that many electronic artists today might only dream of: four acclaimed studio albums, 14 compilation albums, two ‘acoustic' albums and a stand-alone album for yoga and meditation - not to mention innumerable club cuts and dance remixes.
In 2020, the band will release their third ‘Acoustic' album on Anjunabeats which will be supported by a tour of iconic music halls in the UK, USA, and Canada.
They keep getting better and better each time I see them. This show is amazing, you have to see it !!!
One of the best shows I have seen in a long time. I also met them prior to the show, Paavo and Tony are super.
I wouldnt miss it even if they come back this week and every week Above expectations Place bell is cool Too
Their set was amazing, and the crowd was even better. It was a great night :)
Above and beyond totally killed it. I wish I had more room to dance around. Was packed liked sardines in there. Took forever to find a spot where I wasn't getting elbowed. Was tonnes of fun when things settled down.
Had a fantastic night! My only wish was for A&Bs set to be a bit longer, but for older guys these guys really brought back the memories/feels!
All three acts were great, Mark Oliver, Spencer Brown and Above & Beyond. Crowd was really friendly. Sound system was incredible however, was way too packed. Either the venue was oversold or they need to lower capacity. You couldn’t dance. Which was the whole point of the event.
You can never see above & Beyond too many times. There is nothing like trance music, especially their style. However I did feel a little cheated. When they announced their show, I immediately bought presale tickets for Thursday. Few days later they announced a Friday show. Having known that before I would have definitely gone to the Friday show. It actually forced me to take Friday off work. All of that could have been avoided by buying the Friday show.
They all had amazing sets. A&B set was better than their 250 one imo!
Having been to many EDM events around the world over the years, it was a nice change to go back to something so emotionally connected and soul soothing. It was a magical evening and the music was absolutely transcending. Already have and always will recommend their acoustic show if and when they tour again.
The show started with Solomon Grey ~ who I've never really listened to, but they were amazing. Such wonderful music and an amazing voice. I couldn't believe how fast the time went when they were performing. Above & Beyond - a totally different sound to the same music they play. I could've stayed there all night listening to their music. From the different singers they presented to sing their songs brought tears to my eyes many times. Such feels. There was some idiot sitting in the Right Side Balcony who whooed loudly too many times who ruined and broke the mood, but enough about him. If I had the money and the time, I'd be a groupie and follow Above & Beyond around the world on tour. Would definitely see this show again!
I never post reviews of concerts on here but this is one that deserves it. It was incredible! The backing musicians played beautifully, the singers all sounded flawless and Above and Beyond themselves were great! I'm so glad I had the rare opportunity to see this acoustic show. It was like listening to the recorded album, that's how brilliant everyone was. They played all the hits I wanted to hear and took turns introducing each song with a little story which made for an intimate feel. Also, Massey Hall was the perfect venue for this since it has the best acoustics in the city in my opinion. If they ever come back to do another acoustic set GO!
Just incredible. The guys put on an amazing production, and all the singers and instrumentalists were on point.
I ordered the tickets via Ticketmaster last year for this concert, the process was intense as the demand was excessively high. Above and Beyond is an incredibly talented group of musicians, and this acoustics variation is no different. The band played their signature songs along with a few new ones, telling a story throughout their performance with a touch of sentiment. The crowd went crazy at the encore as they finished off their performance with a bang! (literally) It almost felt like a 'I've made it moment' standing there amongst an excited crowd midst such moving music. This is the first performance I watched at Massey Hall, and the location is perfect for post-performance drinks/dinner with friends.
what a night above and beyond always gives their best in a club show. now that they tuned their music to an acoustic sound it made the night magical with all of their hit songs over the years . great venue too, truly among legends
Just wow, it was everything I could have hoped for and so much more. I am getting emotional just thinking about it. If you like A&B/Oceanlab even just a little bit, YOU MUST GO! You will not regret it!
It was a fantastic concert! Above & Beyond was amazing as usual. I'd definitely go again! but I wouldn't buy a VIP ticket again as there is no difference between general admission and VIP.
I saw the exact same show in Toronto a few months back and it was an awful production but A&B are always good but the BMO centre made the event roll out flawlessly and made the experience so much better
third time seeing them and they never disappoint, in fact they always exceed expectations. EPIC, AMAZING, and UNBELIEVABLE a bucket list must!
Above & Beyond was one heck of an amazing experience! I will see them over and over again when I can!
