Soulful R&B singer Ada Dyer is bringing her commanding voice and endearing personality to selected venues in 2015. Dyer's clear and powerful voice is every bit as impressive as icons like Whitney Houston and Stephanie Mills, and her nostalgic concerts transport ticket buyers back to soul's '60s and '70s heyday. Dyer is probably one of the few singers that can take songs by Aretha Franklin or Elton John and truly make them her own, handling originals and covers with equal flare. With jazz underpinnings courtesy of her talented backing group The A Band, her performances are a treat for fans of all genres -- a blast from the past that manages to feel fresh and engaging.
 
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
 
Born and raised in Chicago, Ada Dyer first began performing professionally while in high school. During her early career she paid the bills recording numerous radio jingles and performing in Broadway musical The Wiz (1981), and around that time she caught the attention of jazz drummer Norman Connors with her demo of “Invitation”. Connors invited her to collaborate, and their success led Dyer to relocate to New York. There she joined electro-dance group Warp 9 and sang on the influential singles “Nunk” and “Light Years Away”.  Dyer made her solo debut in 1988 with the album Meant to Be, scoring an R&B hit with “I Bet Ya I’ll Let Ya”. The success of Meant to Be gave Ada more creative control over her self-titled 1990 follow-up album, allowing her to branch out into pop ballads as well as more traditional soul.
