There's not many things better than being front row at an Alanis Morissette concert. Her voice is beautiful live, and the emotion she puts into her lyrics help you forget about the crowd and it feels like you're at a private show.
Production-wise, there wasn't much to speak of - Alanis was very dressed down, not much interaction, she didn't say much more than "thank you" between each song. She did still have her iconic hair with which to headband, her signature hand twitching, and put in a good workout running around the stage.
Where Alanis shines is in the singing, and isn't that the most important part? Especially with the Jagged Little Pill songs, she left it all on the stage. Raw emotion to the point where she's nearly in tears by the end.
The band had a lot of fun on stage. A favourite funny moment came when Alanis subtly changed a lyric in "Ironic" - "It's meeting the man of my dreams, and then meeting his beautiful..husband". The audience laughed, and the guitarist and bassist gave eachother a knowing hug and a wink.
One of the biggest surprises, and my hands-down favourite song of the night, was Uninvited. I've always loved this song and was not expecting to hear it. So moving, so nostalgic. A perfect way to end the main set before 2 encores.
So overall, I had a blast. Had it been an artist I wasn't as big a fan of I may have been a bit disappointed with the lack of interaction. But I absolutely loved hearing these songs, and Alanis' powerful voice, live and all around me.
