My family and I enjoyed the performance! The dancers were amazing! The costumes were beautiful!
Granddaughter’s first ballet and she loved it! Was totally captivated from beginning to end.
I purchased our tickets last minute on a whim after seeing some positive reviews and although our seats were not the best the show was outstanding! It was my daughter’s (5) first ballet and she was engaged and enjoying the entire production. Three very standout dancers (to me) were Dorothy, The Wicked Witch, and The Tim Man. That said everyone was incredible!
Fun for the entire family. Great adaptation. Set and costumes were great and characters were portrayed exceedingly well. Fun night.
Incredible show. Beautifully done. Excited for future shows presented by Alberta Ballet!
Alberta Ballet gave an exceptional display of high artistic standards with new choreography including a large amount of opportunities for male dancers that left my dancing son inspired. The venue is great and well organized. Looking forward to the next Alberta Ballet event.
Love the ballet most of the time and everyone is open to different interpretations. I found this still nice and quality dancing of course but the story was hard to follow even being a big wizard of oz fan. Still nice to see but wouldn’t call this a favorite of them all
Terrific choreography and dancing. Moving story told through a wonderful art form.
My friend and I came from Vancouver to see this production, as ballet and the Wizard of Oz are 2 of my favourite things. I had zero expectations as this is a tough story to translate into ballet. What a delight this was. The evening began with Francesco Ventriglia, the artist director coming out onstage for an introduction to the show. His most delightful persona made me realize that this will be a lovely evening. The costumes, the choreography, how they integrated classical, modern, jazz to this production was so well done. Our Dorothy was danced by Hotaru Maruyama that night and she was star quality, shocked that she isn’t a soloist. A very bright future for her. She danced with passion, her joy of the role was clearly evident. A beautiful performance by all, and an evening that was extremely enjoyable. Well worth the trip from Vancouver.
I was hoping the ballet production would be as good as I thought it would be and it certainly was! The artistic director put in so much effort and creativity and, with the excellent dancers, it added up to a wonderful night at the ballet. My only criticism is that for me the performance would have been greatly enhanced with a live orchestra rather than a recording.
