entering a heavenly realm
Folks really have to see Shen Yun. Whatever is going on in your life, watching Shen Yun will make you feel so much better. It's so wonderful to see traditional culture, dance, music on display and really getting the chance to appreciate the spirituality of another country. I really hope some day that the traditional spiritual culture will re-establish itself in China and bring true peace and happiness to its citizens. As for the show itself, the dancing was amazing -- so well choreographed. The combination of a typical orchestra with the Chinese instruments was really well balanced and produced a unique sound. And how the dancers re-enact stories of ancient China was really cool. The screen really added a lot of depth and background to the dances. The colours were just fabulous. This is a must see show!!

Seriously life changing
Just like the title of this review, this show is seriously life changing. I've watched this show about 5 times now, and everytime I attend, it's just as wowing as the first time. The first time I watched Shen Yun, the beautiful colours and smooth backdrops really stood out to me. It was simply astonishing when the dancers were portraying a story and would just disappear behind the stage as if they jumped into the animated backdrops. The choreography was also perfectly executed, as dancers were in sync and the movements were intricate. The main thing that gravitated me to attend the performance 5 years in a row was truly the message Shen Yun portrayed. Every performance has its own little quirk, history, and individuality, and you never really knew what to expect but the core message of each performance made me walk out the auditorium rethinking life and all the aspects around it. Something about Shen Yun really grasps a part of your heart and allows you to reflect on yourself and the world around you, which I find very special. Shen Yun truly embraces the concept of art.

A Truly Revitalizing Experience
My daughter watched last year's Shen Yun, was totally in love! Now she starts to learn dancing. The techniques of these dancers are. The stories are really touching and inspiring. We feel so energized and happier walking out of the venue. Every year they put on new shows with new stories and costumes, I am getting her tickets again as a Christmas gift.

Best of the best!
The Shen Yun shows are some of the most beautiful and moving performances I have ever seen. They touch my heart and are delightfully entertaining. I have seen many of the shows over the years and look forward to attending them whenever they are in our city as they are totally different each year. Both children and adults seem to enjoy the vibrant and dynamic action on stage. In a word, they are superb.

Have Met them 3 years
It was so powerful and uplifting. I have never seen any performance like this. For my surprise, they do new performance every year. How hard work they work! That is why I follow them. My son comes together with me to watch the performance, he likes the monkey king a lot. Now he can recognize some dancers. It is coming on Mar 2024. I am looking forward to see it.

My sister and father loved it
My father and sister went to watch the 2023 show, and they said it really touched their hearts. The message was really inspiring, and they said the technique was remarkable. They mentioned how the dancers were so skilled and how they moved in perfect synchrony! They also loved the live orchestra. They said they played so well that people didn’t know they were playing live. I’ll definitely go to the next show!

The worst art performance ever!
National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa
The dances and singings were seemingly made for foreigners who have never ever watched any Chinese dances and singings. They looked like the performances in restaurants while serving tourists during meals. The choreography was very simply and repetitive as they were: for ladies dancers who flipped their long sleeves the same way all over each scene of story (about a dozen scene and each one lasted for about 3 minutes) while gentlemen dancers hopped, bounced and jumped the same way. In between each scene, there were two hosts explaining what's going on in the scene of story. The multimedia at the backdrop that shows the mountain views, village views, garden view, ...etc. were not impressive, simple and were very similar. The first singer had his solo out of tone several times! There were also two scenes of story saying China was doing cruelty treatment to its people who believed in Falungong (the two hosts explained the stories and the gentleman host said the cruelty treatment was still ongoing today in China). The performance was completely far below standard and this was not a pure art performance but with politic purpose. It was not an enjoyable night and this was the worst performance I have ever seen. I wonder why such a performance was eligible to perform at National Art Centre. Very disappointed.

really bad
Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary
We were more than disappointed in this performance. The first dance was pretty but after that was the show was repetitive and simple, definitely not on a grand scale as advertised. Many parts were even cheezy. We have attended many performances over 30+ years and were very excited to see this one. All 4 of us thought it was horrible.

Emotionally Charged Spectacular
FirstOntario Concert Hall - Hamilton
Absolutely amazing audio visual experience with a deep message on many of the topics that are newsworthy today. Words cannot describe the colours, the lighting, the costumes, and the choreography, not to mention the orchestral vibrancy that filled the air. This is a MUST SEE at least once in your lifetime and you could become a regular follower as the Show is updated annually. Do not hesitate. A wonderful experience in all respects.
