Can you imagine the routine 1970's Cheech and Chong would have made of current America, what with marijuana decriminalized in a dozen states and legal for adults in a couple? The fact is, the inspired combination of East L.A.'s Richard "Cheech" Marin and Canadian Tommy Chong has always been ahead of its time, above and beyond their views on cannabis. Their legendary records-- not to mention movies like Up in Smoke and 2012's Cheech & Chong's Animated Movie-- helped pave the way to the absurdist slice of life comedy of everyone from Seth Rogen to Aziz Anasri.
The duo broke up bitterly during the mid '80's and took different paths, with Marin finding success as an actor in movies like Tin Cup and on TV's Nash Bridges, and Chong solidifying his place as both a comedic actor on "That 70's Shows" and as a marijuana activist. When they joined forces in 2008 and began touring againÑ Cheech had gone through a divorce, and Chong had just gotten out of prisonÑtheir concerts teemed with unbridled joy of two lovers reunited, and there was an immediate sense that the two were going to stick. At this point, Cheech & Chong have found their rhythm together, and ticket holders can expect both throwbacks to the pair's colorful past and surprises that show them to be as ready to push the cultural envelope now as they were in the 1970's.
Show was pretty good, didn’t seem to be very long.
It was a super funny routine. Everything I'd hoped for in the live show.
Purchased 8 tickets on line since it was mobile entry only I sent them to others that were joining us. When we arrived we had to get different seat (unsure why) had to argue to try to get all 8 together. Since we we're meeting there we had to locate everyone to try to get seats figured out so we could sit together. Very confusing!!! Why were people scalping tickets??? How do you get paper tickets to sell if it's mobile entry ONLY????
Awesome show. Great to laugh and not worry about political correctness for a few hours. Disappointed how the venue handled the entry process after downsizing the seating area. We bought tickets early and our row no longer existed. They tried to get us to wait in a way too long line 10 minutes prior to showtime. We kind of forced our way in and found some empty seats to sit in. Nothing but laughter after that.
The show was great, wish the security would’ve told the idiots behind us to shut the hell up, they were yelling back and forth thru the whole event😡
Had to go to willcal 4 times before i got tickets that were right and that would work!
It was a pretty funny show despite not being high. A bit smokey in the arena during the show but I like the smell of weed so not a problem. I've never been to a show where they ask the audience if they've ever been arrested...and the majority cheered. Interesting mix of people from young to old. Glad I got to see these guys and it was fun to see Chongs wife on stage too, she is hilarious.
Sometimes you take advantage of a show because it's local. We did that for Cheech and Chong. And we bought tickets for friends that had recently married, cause laughter and experiences are the best kind of gifts. (Especially when you've got most of what you need already.) I was so glad we did. We got to see Cheech and Chong with Shelby Chong and we did laugh: a lot. From the opening act by Shelby to the presentation of some of our favorite characters to the stories and skits and songs, we were amused. So grateful that we got to see these Icons of humour and feeling pretty blessed. Proud that Tommy is a Canadian by birth, which is kind of silly, and proud that he can come home and smoke dope legally. Pretty sure he had a hand in that just by being who he is and laying the groundwork!
Not very funny. The music pieces were the best skits.
It was excellent even being 80 they still were funny
